Cat Attract litter??

I have seen people on here mention Cat Attract when a cat is having issues using the litterbox?

I started looking up Cat Attract...and read some reviews, and am thinking of trying it. However, I don't think I can buy it for the primary litter in all the boxes. If I was to mix it, or sprinkle some on top of the litter each time I scoop, would that help? Or if I can't use it for the entire litter, should I just not even try it?

Frank, This may sound like overkill but yu might try putting a several litter boxes oround the house. If yo can get your cat(s) to realize that is where they need to go, and going there regularly, you can then start removing the litter boxes and training your cat to go where you want it to go. (which area of the house) Don't know if this is feasible but you might be able to move whatever is attracting your cat from where it is going to where the litter box is. If it is going near the box, just not entering the box, you may need to try a new litter. A lot of cats have feel issues. Don't know what you use but I can't take perfumed/scented litter. Tried pine pellets but my cats wouldn't use it. Swithed to Fresh Aire and everything is good.

I have a blind kitten that has always been so good at using the boxes until the past couple weeks. Now he is pooping in our living room. We keep cleaning the areas, and he doesn't even go back to the same area, he ends up in different ones.
We have 5 boxes spread throughout the house...two of them have newer litter (a new kind we bought last week) the others have our regular brand litter we have been using for awhile in them.
I feel like I have to follow this cat around and treat him like a kitten just learning again.

You might try the Cat Attract additive with your current litter. I think some people have had luck mixing the litter itself with other litter, and it's probably worth a try in one box.

I wonder if it might be worth trying a little comparison test - one box with just the straight Cat Attract, and one or two with different percentages mixed in. That said, I do use Cat Attract as my only litter - I swear by it for kitties with box issues, and my girl, who's perfect and will use any litter I've brought in, also seems to really like the CA more than 'regular' litters.

Also, whenever there's a sudden change in box habits, it's usually worth a vet check. Or, they may simply hate any new litter brought in, or decide number of boxes isn't sufficient. And, if there have been accidents, it's best to use an enzyme cleaner to treat the spots.

I think it's worth a try. The litter is sold to anyone. I ordered mine online just to see if my 2 cats would like it and they did. However, due to budget reasons only I've gone back to Tidy Cats. But now I know Cat Attract is an option for me later if need be.

The additive is only available through a vet's office, as I understand it.

With my foster kittens I will use the Kitten Attract litter, but I will mix it in with regular litter and when litter training kittens, it works like a CHARM! That product have saved me a lot of messes and headaches for sure.

My local (Illinois) Petsmart carries the additive, and I thought you could get it online. I think it used to be prescription only, but I just saw it at the store this past Saturday. Not sure when it changed.

I forgot about the Kitten Attract - good note!

There are two versions of the additive. One is available via vet and the other is sold on store shelves.

I've tried the Cat Attract litter before, sprinkling a little on top of the regular litter and it works great! The cats were immediately attracted to the box and it solved the problem Tulip was having...for a little while anyways (until we moved but that's another story). I recently bought the additive (just on the shelf at Petsmart), I tried sprinkling it on top of the litter but it didn't seem to make any difference. If you ask me, I'd say you're better off to get a bag of the litter and try it instead of the additive

Unless you have a problem cat, I would not use it as your regular source of litter. Its usually used with young kittens if they are having potty problems.

Dr. Elsey has Kitten Attract for kittens (a friend used this, and loved it). He also has a whole line of litters, including Precious Cat, which, I think, is a little less expensive than Cat Attract.

But, just curious, what would the reason be to not use Cat Attract litter as a regular litter, if you liked it and could afford it? Other than it's a clumping litter?

I've used the additive sprinkled on regular litter and it helped some of the problems in my house. It wasn't until I switched to full strength Cat Attract litter when my problems went away.

I have multiple boxes and only use Cat Attract in 3 of them and use another litter in the rest. Different cats are drawn to different types of litters. My problem cats are always drawn to the Cat Attract boxes.

Try the additive, or try mixing some of the Cat Attract litter with your existing brand. But if that doesn't work, go full strength. There is no reason why you can't go full strength (unless you can't afford to do so).

I look at the cost of litter this way: what would I spend on enzymatic cleaners if they don't use the box, versus the added cost of Cat Attract? It becomes a no brainer.

I would try the additive. It only works with specific kinds of litter though, so read the directions. I use the additive as the litter is not available in Japan to the best of my knowledge, and it would be too dear to ship, so my mom send me the additive. You only need a small scoop per box. So one bottle last me about 3 months at 12 bucks a bottle. Of course I don't have multiple cats and only change two boxes out every two weeks.
