Anyone worried about the Gulf seafood. My goodness, my two kitties have taken a shine to Tikki-Cat and Avoderm tuna with crab. It's ALL they eat in my wet food offerings these days. I am sick with worry about what is going to happen. Money talks, our Pets always pay the price. The FDA can't effectively monitor hen farms which are food animals they told me they have almost zero input over companion animals.

If this is not the time to home cook cat food, I don't know what is. I've tried it many times, we ended up eating it ourselves.

I can't either because of UTI/blockage issues. Well once in a while they get it as a treat. And Bear is actually eating a fish based food right now, but that is all he will literally eat...

I thought about that too though... On CNN they made it sound like the fish/seafood is "safe" and I think they are still selling it for human consumption.... I could be wrong though.

No way I would knowingly eat it though, key word: knowingly.

Thanks for the comments...

These two fur girls seem to go through taste cycles... one month it was poultry - only chicken and turkey and they even passed up the tuna! Now is tuna, tuna tuna... they've just this weekend gone off Tikki Cat after about a 2 months binge.

I'm at the point where, due to the general condition of the food industry, past deadly blunders, can and do prefer to make my own cat (and human!) food, just one month ahead at a time, freezing it, if only I could hit unpon the recipe for the Cat Food Industry's "secret sauce" - they always lick the sauces and juices first...

BTW I am stuyding hydroponics and plan on raising my own food fish and veggies. But that's a ways off as the initial investment in basic equipment is pretty high.
