I fell in love with "Jinx" a 1-2 year old blue tabby. They said he is an oriental shorthair but I don't know. His listing stated he was "very urgent". I sent an email and got a response that he had been in the county shelter since June and his "time" had been extended once already for a family that never came for him.
They also said he was next in line to go "to the back" if they got even one more cat in.

I went today and met him. He's a total love bug I don't understand why he was there so long! I adopted him on the spot. Good thing too, because while I was waiting for him to get his shots and tests a woman came in to drop off her cat...

Now he's at home settling in the spare bedroom. We had to clip his claws and apply soft paws but now we are leaving him to settle. Its been a long day for him!

(I'll post pictures later.)
Wow, thats brill, I cannot wait to see pics of him, for him settling in well.xx

We aren't sure if we're keeping the name "Jinx" or not. I will ask for name suggestions when I post his pics. I don't want to bother him with a camera for a few days yet.

Today he met his new mommy and daddy, brief glimpse of kitty brothers through the carrier, taken from his "home" at the shelter and his roommates there, got bloodwork, shots, wormer, a long car ride home, nails clipped, soft paws applied and introduced to his new house (room). A bit much for a few days!

Looks like you were meant to have kitty fever for a reason good thing you were sent there just in time or he might have had a sad ending.

I wasn't planning on any more kittens. Tolly was my last baby and he is over 11 years old. My last two adoptions were adults, and it's been my intent to adopt only older cats from the shelter, when next I had the adoption bug.

But Queen Eva was put in my path, or I in her path, whichever way it happened, it was meant to be, and I can't imagine how I ever lived without her. She's just 9 weeks old now, she was 8 weeks when I rescued her.

Tolly and Mazy love her too. Jennie is still pretending to be a grouch about it, but I think she's being charmed as well.

Well you could name the baby Skinner if you brought him home
To go with the X-files motif...

Usually when I get the kitten bug I go out and buy a house plant and drown it for a while and the urge goes away. It happens more frequently than I'd like to admit. Just another body to love and water and talk to ...

But there's something special about kitties... Especially those kittens..

Its getting worse. All I can think of is kittens! I dreamed last night of playing with Spooky, Muder and a whole bunch of... you guessed it.
Our shelter would love to have people come in and volunteer to keep a few kittens for a while. That's one way for us to avoid putting kittens (and adult cats) to sleep right now during the high season and still have them available later when we'll have empty cages.

I watch for kittens that may be having a problem, or who are very sweet but not flashy. We have the sweetest kitten now, who has largely grown up in a cage, but she's long-haired, brown tabby, and female, 3 strikes against her.

We filled out some paperwork to do fostering while I was there. We want "Jinx" (or whatever his name ends up) to settle in and the boys to adjust together before we start bringing in fosters.

Wow! He's beautiful. Bless you for adopting him!
It sounds like the kitten bug came just at the right time.

I got the kitten bug about 3 1/2 months ago, got online and found my Joey. About 5 weeks later, we randomly stumbled upon our Billy, and although we didn't want any more cats, we had to take him in. We just could not turn down a blind cat...and we just love him so much. He is my husbands baby (which was good because Joey is mine) and Billy just lays on my husbands chest and licks his face like he is so glad we rescued him...
Now, our kittens are getting older...Joey is fixed now and not AS playful...Billy is getting fixed soon, and a couple weeks ago, my husband and I were talking about how our babies weren't really kittens anymore...and then two days later he found a kitten in our chicken coop, and Toby came into our lives.
I think we are a magnet for in need animals...yesterday, a stray from the neighborhood walked onto our porch and cried until we took it out some food and water. We don't know where he came from, and are watching around to see if he has a home and is a hungry outdoor cat...or yet another cat dropped off in our area. Its so sad how many people just leave their cats here because we are more in the country.

With what I'm dealing with, finding a kitten in a chicken coop really spooks me. Make sure the vet knows about this, you may even consider testing even if no symptoms are shown just because kittens have practically no immune system to protect them. You don't want to lose Toby months from now.
