I'm wondering if maybe I'm overlooking something, but has Prell shampoo in the tube gone away? It made perfect sense. It was easy to travel with. It didn't leak. It was concentrated, so you don't have to use a lot. And it smelled good and washed my hair well.

Now, I can't seem to find it.

By the way, one reason Prell made sense to me was that it was, as I said, concentrated. If you look on the label of most shampoos, the first ingredient is water. But water is heavy, and it costs a lot of money to transport. If the unnecessary water in our products was removed, we'd save a bundle just on the transportation. Why truck water all over the country?
Mike, I believe I am a little older than you so the thing I remember most on TV was Brylcream ads, a little dab will do you, all the girls will pursue you, simply rub a little in your hair. I guess when I could no longer find this product is when the girls stopped pursuing me.

LOL That's why I buy my shampoo/conditioner a dozen at a time just in case I can't find it anymore. At least I'll have some left. That's one thing I looked for at the grocery store by our new house. I told my husband that it's okay if we move there b/c they carry my shampoo. LOL Thus far I've only found ONE store in this town that carries the shampoo that I use. Thankfully it is the store right in our subdivision.

My Mom was looking for Prell saying it was the best shampoo ever and she can't find it anywhere. She has lots of trouble finding stuff, even hairspray, that she can use.

I make sure when I grab something I mutter "ugh I hate this but I'll buy it anyway" so maybe it'll never go away LOL

There was a time I used Brylcreem. But it was nearly 50 years ago!

It's still made and sold, of course.

I'm always amazed at the stuff that was big back in the 30's, 40's, and 50's, much of which I hear about on the "Radio Oldies" channel on Sirius Radio.

I thought of another thing that really chapped my hide, my local grocery store was carrying Mary B's Frozen Biscuits in the "Butter Flavor" brand. Now I'm southern, and I can tell the difference between good biscuits and a bad biscuits. They kept selling out of this stuff, then they stopped carrying it! I have to drive to a whole 'nother store and get them. Why do they do that? You were SELLING OUT constantly, then you just stopped carrying them? No one buys the "Southern made" or the "Buttermilk", they just sat there. I really wanted to tell the manager that it made no business sense. Those are some of the BEST biscuits -evar-. But I can only find them at Food Lion (close by that is)

This thread made me think of the strangest trio of "what happened to it?" items----Saniflush, nacho Cheetos, and spreadable pizza. I know, spreadable pizza sounds odd but I loved it. It came in a small can (like deviled ham does) and you'd spread it on bread, sprinkle a little parmesan cheese on top, and stick in under the broiler for a minute or 2. I haven't had any in at least 25 years.

There is a certain marinade that come in different flavours in a ziploc pouch. The local grocers carried them, then stopped but my sis could get in Virginia. Then the local stores carried it again earlier this year but one stopped again. I keep on forgetting to check the other store. Maddening!!

Appian Way Pizza Mix! I used to make one after school every day back in the late 1960s... my brother and I just loved it. Everywhere we've lived, I've sought out a source for it, but as of 1992 or so, it can't be bought in North Texas. If you see it on a shelf in your store, trust me, you should give it a try! Good yeasty crust, wonderful tangy sauce... ah, such memories.

This situation came up this week. We were up in MA, visiting Dottie's family, and I went by a Dunkin Donuts for my favorite: Toasted coconut! I tried 4 stores, and none of them had it any more.
