Doesn't it just frost you?

Have you ever had a product you bought for years that just disappears? Something that was "just right?"

I'm wondering if maybe I'm overlooking something, but has Prell shampoo in the tube gone away? It made perfect sense. It was easy to travel with. It didn't leak. It was concentrated, so you don't have to use a lot. And it smelled good and washed my hair well.

Now, I can't seem to find it.

By the way, one reason Prell made sense to me was that it was, as I said, concentrated. If you look on the label of most shampoos, the first ingredient is water. But water is heavy, and it costs a lot of money to transport. If the unnecessary water in our products was removed, we'd save a bundle just on the transportation. Why truck water all over the country?

Oh yes, I often make a joke that if a company makes a product that I like, it will no longer be available to buy.

I have heard a number on the failures of new products every year, and it's pretty high. But this is something that, I guess, just lost market share, or something. Not stylish enough. Too economical. Something like that.

YES! It happens to me all the time. I think there must be somekind of conspiracy..
This specially affects make up/beauty items.
Few examples: I have so pale skin that I can't find make up foundation light enough, then there was this one brand and I was sooo pleased with it. Then they discontinued it, just that shade, not the whole line!
I found a nice face cleansing foam from Lóreal, after a year they discontinued it.
All of the hair dyes I've thought to be the best have discontinued the one shade I use, keeping the rest of them still available.
All of my favourite sweets have been discontinued, so have all the potato chips.

Yep, it's happened to me too. Though it must not have happened in a long time because I can't think of an example.

Like you said, the concentrated Prell must be too economical.

Time to look on ebay and stock up....

Stock up from eBay is EXACTLY what I do!!! I have so many saved searches for discontinued items that I use. I don't know what I'd do without eBay!

Yep it's happened to me too. I finally found a shampoo and conditioner that worked for me and the company went out of business.

My favorite perfume, Aliage by Estee Lauder, is no longer available but I can get a scent "copy" of it in natural oils from a vendor and I am very happy.

Do Tiparillos and Brill Cream still exist?

I had to laugh when I saw this thread, because I've recently been on a buying spree at Amazon, stocking up on a recently-discontinued flavor of my favorite chewing gum. I take a prescription medication that gives me terrible dry-mouth, and it took me ages to find a sugarless gum I liked the taste of, that tasted okay with the green tea I like to drink, and didn't wreck my teeth if I chewed it constantly. I use an electronic cigarette instead of smoking regular cigarettes, and I even had a nicotine liquid flavor custom-made to match it!

Now, go figure, the company (it's the Extra brand) is moving on to new things, and they've discontinued all but 2 or 3 flavors in the line (the "Fruit Sensations" - I think they're still offering the Watermelon and the Strawberry Banana, neither of which I'm fond of). So, I'm going to be an insane gum-taste-tester for awhile until I find a new one! Most annoying thing in the world.

Another bad thing is when they change the formula of something you like. I had this mascara that I absolutely loved and they came out with this "new and improved" formula and I HATE it.

Yup, I was just going to mention this one. Happens to me with shampoo and/or conditioner all the time. It's NEVER better!

This kinda stuff happens to me all the time. So far, knock on wood, Neutrogena hasn't eliminated or changed their tinted moisturizer that I use and Milano cookies hasn't gotten rid of their milk chocolate type. But of course now that I say something they will be gone the next time to go to the store for them.

This thread inspired me yesterday to search for any remaining tubes of my foundation and while I found quite a few, none in my color
I did e-mail the company to tell them of my displeasure and also found some suggestions on blogs for a replacement, so I'll be testing those out...of course none of them are aws inexpensive as the Maybelline

Well, I did notice that the link posted above had regular Prell, plus Prell in the tube, for $12. So much for economy!
