Hi all,

If you remember I have been having problems with my boy and cystitis and struvite crystals.

Well he was put on Royal Canin Urinary SO to help control this. He took a while getting used to the food, but has been eating just this food for 2 weeks now. To start with it was ok and he was eating it fine but this last week he has decided hes not so keen on it.
I put food down for him 3 times a day but hes not been eating his morning or afternoon feed, so by the time its come to his evening feed hes beeen starving and eaten the food.
The last 2 nights withing minutes of eating he has vomited and brought it all back up and also has very runny poo.
I have rang the vet and am awaiting a call from him.
Do you think the food doesnt agree with him or could it just be that he's eating to fast due to be hungry from not eating his other meals? Although this would not explaine his runny poo's.

Also Im not sure if it all conected but he jumped up for a fuss last night and then turned round and sprayed on me!! He has never ever done this before, any ideas?

I havnt fed him today and wont until I have gotten advise off my vet.

Is this wet or dry food? I leave my kitties food out all day, it is dry. I read somewhere they need to have access to it all the time. Of course, that would only apply to dry. Is there a prob with feeding dry? I am not in love with dry, but it is medicine. That's the way I look at it.

The runny stool could be another issue, seperate from bladdar. Odd that he sprayed you. Poor you!

Please let us know what the vet says.

It could be that your kitty isn't feeling very good. My Boo peed on everything and we were dumbfounded, but later found out he was having serious trouble actually peeing because of struvite crystals. He was on Hill's C/D and I have no experience with the SO.. I cannot remember your original post but I am guessing your male is neutered, but this definitely calls for a vet visit. When I see changes in appetite and then bathroom issues too, it's a vet visit time surely. The spraying on you (Ewww!! Sorry about that hon!!) may be him trying to tell you something is wrong? and the runny poo, no clue here.

Keep us updated and vibes for your baby

Thanks for your replies, yes he is neutured, he was done at 6 months.

Its the dry food that hes on, but Im unable to leave any cat food down all the time as we have 2 cats and the other cat isnt on the urinary food, Jerry would just go and eat that which really wouldnt do him any good at all.

Still waiting to hear off the vets, I rang at 9.30 this morning but he was in theatre operating all morning so Ill try again if Ive heard nothing by 12.30.

Will keep you up dated.

Right Ive just spoken to my vet.

He thinks that the sickness and runny poo is down to Jerry starving himself all day but then overloading his stomach with his food in the evening.

I am popping round to the vets now to pick up some of the SO wet food to see if he prefers that so he'll hopefully start eating regularly rather than cramming it all in at night.

He also wants another urine sample to check that the crystals are disolving and has put Jerry back on cystaid as he was straining a little this morning.

I hope we get this sorted and under control soon,, its been going on for so long already, I hate seing my poor baby so uncomfortable

Glad you spoke to the vet. I hope he will eat the wet. I don't know, but why not ask the vet if the food would harm your other cats. Then your problem would be solved regarding leaving the food out.

Many . Keep us posted!
