I have a question about pest repellant gadets like this one.

http://www.amazon.com/Original-PEST-...607177&sr=1-10

First off, are they really okay to have around my cats? Second, do I need one for every room in the house? For instance, if I put one in the kitchen, will the bugs just move into the family room or dining room?

Anybody have any recommendations on the best ones to get? I have these small black bugs that have been showing up in my kitchen, and a family of spiders, that I would like to get to move elsewhere (but not elsewhere in my house).

Thanks.

Not sure about this one specifically but I use a strip for flying bugs. (I had a drain fly problem). Anyway, the strip does not harm me or Trout and it kills all the flying bugs almost within hours. It is pretty great!

I've used and still am using the terro ant baits. I've got them hidden on the kitchen counter but the cats don't jump on the counter anyhow. I use a slug repellant outside but the one that is safe for pets.
If I'm spraying an herbicide outside I make use the cats are all in the house and do not let them out until I know the area is safe to walk on. This goes for lawn "weed and feed" as well.

I don't want to kill them, I want them to move elsewhere.

I have a similir one .. some work some dont ...I have noted alot less bugs inside with this onethan the others...a in a spider season for the record books , I have only seen 1/4 the norm in the house...my current one that works very well is a riddex with a night light( this seems to cover the whole house and even part of the garage .. Safe for cats yes ... rabbits, birds , mice and other rodents NO

I use a different one and have been very happy with it. I used to have a huge cockroach problem here - I live in Texa, on the ground floor, and every time it rained I was in trouble. Since getting these, no more. I have found one or two baby roaches in the few years I have had it, but that's all. Never a big one, no spiders, no ants, nothing.

It does make a sound, so I have one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen - rooms that I don't spend too long in it. But you get used to it.... I can not hear from the adjacent rooms. The setting for rodents is much louder, and you would probably have to put it in the attic or basement. For insects it is ok - I don't even notice it anymore.

Cats are not bothered by it at all.
Here it is
