We rescued a little baby boy almost 2 weeks ago from our chicken coop. He has been through a LOT in his little life...battle scars from outdoor living/abuse, starvation, worms that made him really sick/lethargic/had to eat from a syringe...
and he is finally feeling better and acting like a kitten. We want to name him, even though we are still up in the air about keeping him. If we could adopt out a couple of our older strays that we are still trying to find homes for, it would be easier to say we are definitely keeping him. I certainly want to keep him, we just have a huge number of cats...anyway
we can't decide on a name. We like people names for cats, and typically like names ending in a Y, IE, or some type of name we can give a nickname ending in an "ey, ee, ie, y," sound.
Names we have thought of...
Coop (bc we found him in a chicken coop)
Toby
Frank
Mikey

still need more opinions and name suggestions if possible!! Below is a picture of the little guy.

I vote for Cooper or Toby. Though I think Cooper is very fitting considering where you found him

I like Cooper too, and it suits him, just by looking at him, though in my experience cats will let you know what their names are, some immediately, some it takes awhile.

Mazy, Jennie and Queen Eva gave me their names in the first moment our eyes met. Tolly took over a week to let me know, but he did, finally.

Well, you could go with Koop.

But he sure is a cutie! Glad he's doing better.

Sorry for posting in the wrong place, I didn't know where it fit best!

We were trying to stay away from Cooper bc my brother has a dog with that name, although it was one of our first choices. We also love Toby and Oliver. Hmm...decisions decisions!!

Hmm..Oliver......you know it's a funny thing, I tried Oliver on each of my Red Boys when they came along, it almost seemed right....... One became Baby
who was my soulmate for almost 16 years, and the other is Tolly. It's funny how the name Oliver seems to come up for Red Boys. Maybe your little red boy is the TRUE Oliver.

Ok, if you wantn to keep with the chicken coop theme, what are some names of famous chickens? Who's the one from the old cartoon...Foghorn Leghorn? something like that. You could call him Foggy for short! Surely there are some other famous chickens or roosters. Someone must know of some...my brain is always a little "foggy", so I can't remember these things that well!

However, I DO like Coop. Not Cooper, just plan ole Coop.

well, there are the chickens in "Chicken Run" [Rocky, Mac, Bunty, Fowler], there's Chicken-Licken, Camilla [Gonzo's {muppet} girlfriend, wouldn't be appropriate!], the Funky chicken [i think Funky would be cute!], Chicken Little, the Little Red Hen... that's all i can think of.
i'd probably go w/either Funky, Rocky, or Foghorn [aka Foggy].

Could it be because of Disney's Oliver? I always thought that's why so many red boys are called Oliver.

I also like Cooper, but if that's not suitable then how about Rooster?

Hmmm...well Baby
was born in 1982, so that wouldn't work for him. And actually I had to look it up after reading your post, I never heard of it, though that is a cute cartoon cat! (I always loved the Aristocats)

I did have a Rooster named Louie once though.

Billy, Joey and baby stray (temporary name!! haha) are BFF. It is probably the cutest thing I have ever seen honestly. Today, Joey had to get neutered....when I put him in the carrier, Billy laid next to it. When I got home from dropping JoJo off, Billy literally walked around the house "looking" for him and cooing. He was so confused. He ended up sleeping curled up with the baby stray until Joey came home. Then they all laid together in the kitchen in front of the open windows. The three of them stay together all the time now. Baby stray follows them around and if they play he has to play too. They all wash each other too.

What an absolutely adorable little guy! I could never part with him if I had found him. I like the names Coop or Toby. Give him scritches on his little head from me. Bless you for taking him in and caring for him.
