Need help with kitten

Our kitten is now 4 months old. I know pups & kittens bite & scratch but ours is getting worse. We also have a very soft very tolerant Labrador. Tonite the kitten sunk his teeth& claws into her she screamed out loud & ran to hide shaking & panting. It was really upsetting as shes been so gentle & kind to him. Now she wont come into the room if hes there. His parents were feral although we got him from a rescue centre.

This is like the last straw, we are all covered in bites & scratches too. When he bites or scrapes us we say firmly "no bite" but he just keeps coming back time and again. He doesnt seem to
have any cut off point.

People might think its funny that a big dog is so frightened of a tiny kitten, but what can we do? My OH said tonite maybe we should think of rehoming the kitten or sending him back to rescue. It took Chloe (dog) over an hour to stop shaking & panting. My OH says it was her home first & we must put her first & i know hes right but i do love little Tigger too, he does have some good
moments when he is sweet & kind, theyre just becomming less & less

Any advice very welcome

Many people don't realize it at first, or until they've had a few kittens, but kittens play very rough with each other. Much more so than puppies ever do. Maybe because in cats that's a precursor to fighting and killing (prey) but play in dogs in more social related.

The simplest solution if you can afford to do so is to get another kitten. Let them beat each other up. If you can, go for a kitten that is a little older or even a young cat (the longer this other cat/kitten was with it's mother and litter mates the better). Do not get a younger smaller kitten as it sounds like your current kitten is pretty aggressive in his play. I would suggest another male kitten/cat since you'd more likely get matching rough play out of a couple of boys. Whoever you adopt from can help you pick out a good match.

In the meantime you have to step up and wear this kitten out with play. Teaser toys like da bird and laser pointers. When you see him starting to go after the dog you have to pull him away and distract him. When he does this with you, redirect to toys. If he bites or scratches after a little petting put him down and give him a toy. Never let him learn to think of your hands as a play toy.
He may possibly wrestle with a stuffed toy close to his size if you want to try that.

We had a very similiar problem with our kitten -- once feral as well. However, after much thought, we decided to get another kitten. The 2 are seperated in age by just 5 days and after an initial "initiation" period (as we call it) they are now best of friends. And we are kitty wound free.
