Found a stray - what kind of cat is this?

Can't really tell if she's a long hair or short hair, but she looks like she's either a tabby or a dilute calico. Does she have spots of colors on her body or just there on her face? She's a cutie whatever she is!

Spots on her tummy, striped legs... Is there a way to tell if she is (or will be) a long hair. does long hair mean more grooming?

Totally new to cat world. not sure I want to belong to cat world, but am considering it...

Any help appreciated.

She looks like a little gray tabby short hair and I say the last part b/c her ear hair is not that long.

She's a little calico! Sometimes when they've got tabby stripings, they're called torbies. Predominantly gray with the little buff or orange spots makes her a dilute calico. Not real sure on the short or long haired part since her tummy's so fluffy.

Is this your first kitty? How old is she? Where did you find her?

Not sure if that is the true color - its either a blue or brown tabby. Are the stripes on the sides in a circle pattern or vertical? If circle its a classic tabby, vertical its a mackerel tabby.

The "breed" is domestic shorthair - not a purebred.

I think you are right with blue, the undercoat appears to be mushroom pink. Possibly ticked - seems to be a lack of markings on the head??

I think she'll be a short haired cat. Alot of kitties are fluffy when young. Both cats that I've had who became just medium-haired, had fur that was alot longer than that at her age.

She is a sweetie. I hope you decided to keep her. She looks very relaxed in your arms..

Please keep us posted !!!
