I have a 14 year old male Maine Coon, recently the AC need repaired in our apartment. We were without AC for six days, before that the AC had been run nearly non stop from May until August.Right after it was repaired and we started running it again he started shedding excessive amounts of hair, his health seems fine otherwise,no other symptoms besides shedding.I was wondering what exactly caused this, and will he be ok,and is there reason for me to be worried.

I would suspect the shedding and fixing of the air are coincidental. The shedding is triggered by fewer daylight hours rather than temperature. My long haired cat is shedding too, and the only air I have is hot and stale

I also was going to say that probably the shedding is not related to the AC being fixed, but rather just your cat's body getting ready for the coming (hopefully soon!!) cooler months.

That's good to know guys
I was so worried because of his advanced age,I guess I never paid attention to his shedding before.I just started noticing it somehow.Currently the fur is flying everywhere,LOL
