How to make your cat' hair fluffy?

Charlie has smooth and shiny hair but it isn't fluffy. What should I do to make it fluffy?

Some cats aren't fluffy . I don't think there's anything you can do to change that, unless you think she's not fluffy because she's greasy. Then a bath might help. But otherwise she's probably just a cat with smooth fur, not fluffy fur.

I'm guessing you have a long hair cat. Not all long hair have "fluffy" coats. A lot depends on the background, the color and the food.

Persians/Himalayans have the best coats to fluff up when grooming; however, different colors have different coat textures. Whites and blues tend to fluff up the best; blacks tend to be silkier and don't fluff as much.

The trick is to comb the cat in the normal way and get out all tangles. Then comb around the ruff and tail BACKWARDS - which will fluff up the coat. Keep in mind that this only lasts a few mins and the cat will not be walking around the rest of the day with a fluffy coat.

I show cats and have watched the long hair owners do grooming. I prefer the "wash and wear" cats with short coats and very little grooming.

Charlie is a tabby cat, he doesn't have long a hair, maybe Willowy is right, I can't do anything about it.

A DSH, then? Some DSHs have sleeker coats than others. I have some that have quite a bit of undercoat and can look rather fluffy considering that they're short haired. And I have some that have very little undercoat, they look very smooth. Tomas, especially, has a sleek coat - he can't even bristle up his fur and tail properly when startled.

Yep some are just silky smooth! Google is a monster of fluff, but his brother was insanely silky smooth and had really short hair! It was kind of odd!
I wouldnt worry too much about them not being fluffy! The fluff is rather annoying at times! Esp. if it was fluffy near the bottom!

What is DSH?

DSH = domestic short hair non-breed cat.
DMH = domestic medium hair non-breed cat.
DLH = for any domestic long haired non-breed cat.
