Would like to hear about experiences from anyone who has ever had an asthmatic cat. I am taking my 3 y/o Himmie, Jaspurr in to be checked out by the vet. He has occasional episodes that I initially thought were furball related but now I'm not so sure. I've also noticed some mild wheezing when he breathes. I've often wondered why he has never been as active or playful as his brother and am thinking this may be the reason. He's a larger cat but not overweight according to our last checkup. I also understand that asthma is more prevelant in the Siamese and Himalayan breeds. Jaspurr is a timid cat and won't be very receptive to daily treatments so I hope that's not where we're headed. Even though he is quite attached to me and loves to cuddle at times he is not a cat who likes to be handled excessively and any close physical contact has to be on his terms. But if he does indeed have asthma I would feel better just knowing I have some kind of breathing apparatus on hand in case things get scary. Anybody have any insight? Thanks.
