Is it normal for a 4 1/2 month old kitten to lose a tooth?

I was playing with Phoenix today and she started biting me. When she got rough I pulled my hand away and a tooth was in my hand. I noticed that the spot where she lost it. (Front) was a little bloody but there was also another tooth there. I never knew cat lost baby teeth. How normal is this? How many will she lose?

It may be a little early, but not by much. And yes, it's normal. In a few days you'll see an adult tooth has grown in.

Save that tooth.
Most never find their kitten's lost teeth.

I was lucky enough to find at least one from each of my kittens... but unlucky enough to have found one of them by stepping on it barefoot.

Aww!
That is neat that you actually have the tooth. They usually start teething in my experience around 4-6 months. They swallow them while they eat sometimes or just lose it somewhere. I was able to keep a lot of my dog Frankie's teeth when he was a puppy. My husband thought I was nuts!

Phoenix will get all new adult teeth in. Find things for her to chew on that are safe and it can help keep her from chewing on thing she shouldn't.

Let us know if you find anymore. Good luck!

There's an old wives' tale I heard that says that she'll go into heat when she starts losing teeth....don't know if it's true but keep an eye out!

I found 3 of Squeak's baby teeth. I saved them in a little baggie. She was about that age when she lost them.

Lilly will be 5 months old on the 20th and she's lost both her bottom baby canine teeth... amazing how quickly they grow up!
