Nuh uh...might give me away!
Mudd jeans, drawstring pants with tight shirts (a la Qwen Stefani), flannel was still around, goth was coming to a head due to Marilyn Manson, and I listened to all genres of music so my playlist could go from Backstreet Boys to Xzibit!

I graduated HS in 2000, and no, I'm not attending my 10-year reunion.

I don't remember any of this stuff, really. Maybe because I was in a small rural town?

I remember more goofy fashions from the 80s and early 90s when I was younger - silly large bright floral prints, spandex, stripped jeans, those 80s style cut "dress" jeans, acid wash, etc.

Elvis Presley. Also when I was in school, girls still wore dresses everyday.

Yep. I was in the 5th grade (graduated H.S. in 1977) before we could wear pants to school. For awhile it had to be pant suits.

We had really, really short multi-colored dresses with matching undies called Sizzlers, (1972)

Gouchos (horrible flaired knee-length pants worn with boots), (1975)

bell bottoms, of course, (1970)

hair style known as the "shag", (1972-73)

hot pants (really short shorts - oh, nothing's changed there...) (1971)

Donny Osmond, Jackson-5, Bobby Sherman, Archies (Sugar, Sugar, baby!), Carly Simon & Carole King, (1970's)

comfy shoes we called "earth shoes", (1975)

maxi (I swear I'm not making this up) coats (floor length), (1970)

midi coats, (mid-calf length), 1971

and in the 6th grade I whined till I got a tam - which was a winter hat just like the one Mary Tyler Moore throws in the air on the beginning credits of her beloved show...

whoops! forgot to notice the question was "high school" - I did not attend high school for throughout the entire 1970's!

I'm not sure I remember! LOL! My 10 year reunion is this Saturday; maybe that'll jog my mind!

I remember the shirts with 3/4 sleves that were a different color than the body of the shirt. Old Navy fleeces were big at one point. Other than that I don't remember.

OMG, I wore Sizzlers! And bell-bottomed jeans. I had my hair cut in a shag for awhile. And hot pants. I remember them well.
I remember Earth Shoes, but never bought any. I graduated from HS in '72.

It took me a while to remember cuz I graduated high school in 1962. Dr. Kildare and Ben Casey were the two hot Dr. shows on TV. I used to wear the white shirts/blouses that the Dr's. wore on TV. Chemise dresses were in back then also. Also tight skirts were very popular and big bulky sweaters. I remember my hair being in the flip style, also ballerina shoes (flats) were very big back then. Now those flats are back in style and costing a lot more.

The British invasion alto took over around that time, first came the Beatles and the rest followed one after another. The only group I saw in person was the Dave Clark Five, anybody remember them??

I can't remember much more.

Nobody got sent home for wearing hot pants, but only because our dress code required girls to wear dresses or skirts. It also specified the length of the skirt. That meant you could get sent home for wearing a mini skirt, but also some girls got sent home for wearing midis!

Why yes, I am a child of the 80's.
Reminds me of something that happened to me in Goodwill last year. A teenage girl came up to me while I was shopping, wanting advice on what to wear to an '80's party (isn't it swell that we're the golden oldies now???
). I furiously tried to remember what we wore in the 80's! I went through a rebellious, punk rock phase. I had Sid Vicious hair, spray-dyed purple, black, red. I pierced my own ears with safety pins in various spots. I wore mini-skirts, and a cheesy, KMart snow-leopard print tight shirt, with "Sid Vicious lives" hand-written in blood-red paint on it. And black fishnet stockings, and very high heels. And this was to work in a LIBRARY. Wonder why they instituted a dress code soon after that????

I'm much more dignified now. LOL

Lord, I feel OLD now...

Oh, yeah. I definitely remember The Dave Clark Five. I graduated in '66. In fact, during high school, anything British was considered super fab! We learned all the language the Beatles were using....fab, gear, grotty....I remember seeing A Hard Day's Night and just eating up the way they were talking!

Which reminds me - tomorrow, 8/21, marks 45 years since I went to the Beatles concert in Minneapolis. Wow.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I must have gone to high school in kind of "inbetween" years (1977 - 1981), because bell bottoms were out, but gauchos still existed. Calvin Klein jeans were IT though I hung with the "Mary Jane" crowd and wore Levis jeans (they didn't make them for different genders then). The Farrah Fawcett hair was "in."

I haven't seen anyone mention platform shoes???????????????

My Jr. year I went barefoot for three months before anyone noticed.
(No dress code, almost 4,000 students in my school).
