Over the years, I think I've spent a small fortune on Cat brushes. Either one or more of the tribe wouldn't like this one, or that one, or it didn't work well. I finally ended up with 3 different brushes, and having to keep track of who liked which one.

Well, this morning I noticed that Blondie Rumpleteaser had one of those dull colored "dead hair" spots right in the middle of her back, and started looking for her brush...and looking, and looking, and looking...

It wasn't to be found. So, instead of subjecting her to a brush she didn't care for, I decided to try combing her instead. Well, she loved it. And while this was going on, everyone else was lining up for "pur-paw grooming time". And; they ALL loved the comb. I can get 6 barber combs for $1. Go figure.

Jamie's got a Furminator and a couple of ZoomGrooms, but his very favorite thing is a fine-toothed comb. He even sits in front of the drawer where it's kept and meows to be combed.

Too funny!

Chynna
loved the wire slicker brush. She also loved to be vacuumed with the upholstery tool, even the turbo one with the Dyson Animal!

Abby loves all things that brush her. Her brushes, mine, combs, my bath brush, and even a long nail file brushed against her. She's not at all picky!!

I've never brushed a cat, always combed - long and short hairs.

We have a couple different brushes....it seems that none of our cats likes the same brush. But they all love to be brushed and combed out. Pepe will stand in front of the closet door in the bathroom (that's where their grooming tools are) and cry for me to brush her. And as soon as I get the brushes out, they all start milling about. Even Mollipop has decided that brushing is a good thing.

I bought a baby brush and comb set when I first got Larry. And he mostly loves the comb! He's long-haired, and the minute he sees me going for the brush and comb and I say, "Want a brush?", he'll come and lie down and roll over and start purring.....but, yeah, the comb really gets him going.

I use a this comb for Sabina. Most brushes just get caught up in her fur, and the furminator is a disaster on her. When it's grooming time, I get the cup with the comb, nail clipper, and scissors, and shake it. She runs to the bathroom! I fill the cup with water for dipping the comb. If I don't, static builds up and her fur gets caught up in the comb. She loooves it, and when I'm not dipping the comb in it, the water makes for good drinking!

pssst....don't tell Sabina that it's technically a d-o-g comb!

It's funny how we, as cat owners, can spend all the money in the world on something for our kitties, but they almost always prefer something that was inexpensive or, better yet, free!

I have an entire Sterilite container filled with grooming supplies for the kitties (and another for the dogs). I have the Furminator and the ShedEnder. I also have more than one ZoomGroom -- I think we're up to 3. And, then there are the combo brushes, the bristle brushes, the pin brushes, the slicker brushes, the de-matting combs, the shedding blades, and about a zillion combs with varied pin widths and sizes. Oh, and I can't forget flea combs, which are my short-haired cats favorites. I also have about a million other products. Most were a bust, but there were a few good ones. But, what really cats really love are the cheap little flea combs that you can buy just about anywhere. No, not the expensive ones, but the ones that are a flimsy plastic and cost $0.25. Sometimes, I don't even know why I bother...but, then I look at them and remember...

You've just got to love cats (and their owners). We do what we can for our babies, but, in the end, a quick rub with a damp paper towel and a comb through with a pitiful plastic comb is all it takes to make my cats happy and healthy.

That's so true! The baby brush and comb I use I got for $1 at the Dollar Store!

I don't own and never have own brushes for grooming - I only use flea combs or fine toothed combs or the Furminator on my cats. I never recommend using a brush on any cat - especially long hairs.
