Husky cat, slim cat

I have two cats. Marlow is quite husky. Sasha is slim. Sasha is at what the vet calls "a good weight for him". Sasha is 10.5 lbs. Marlow is similar in stature but is quite larger in girth. He carries his extra size well. He is very firm. Marlow is two years old and Sasha is four.

Sasha is fed one half cup of Royal Canin Urinary SO daily. Marlow gets about one fourth cup of SO and a 3oz. can of premium canned each day. (Sasha has had UT problems, Marlow has not) Lately Marlow has been getting TOTW or Turducken.

Is this canned food making him fat? Or is he just a big strong cat? They both beg for food like we are starving them. We feed three times each day. I should mention that both were feral and have "get it while the gettin's good" table manners.

do the foods have a calorie content on them?

Wet food Oz for Oz has roughly 1/2 the calories of dry....

SO = 165 kcal / half cup
TOTW = 134 kcal / 3.2 oz can
Turducken = 94 kcal / 3.2 oz can.

What is the k in kcal?

kcal is a calorie ... remember only the US is not on metric

okay 1/4 cup of SO is 83 calories
83+94=177cal
83+134=217

A less active cat should be getting roughly 15cal per lb... Or if Marlow should be 11lb s roughly 155 cals a day....

Disclaimer time= Ask your vet for the ideal wt on Marlow and correct calories per day

It seems Marlow may be overfed. He should weigh 11 lbs. If I cut 5% or so he probably won't notice.

Even though Marlow is indoors only for 9 months now,I would still have to trap him to get him to the vet. His annual isn't till November.
