I don't want to confuse you even more... They are not talking about FIP, are they?
Can you actually call them and get it straight? Or is it in the paperwork?
FIP can not be diagnosed for certainty, and unfortunately it has no cure either... I hope it is not FIP, as it is a lethal disease.Originally Posted by Konner920
Yeah FIP.
He has ALL of the symptoms. His meow sounds rough and he keeps huffing and puffing.
Sorry I don't know exactly what my cat has since none of my vets know how to actually examine him. they look at him and pet him and say there is nothing wrong.Originally Posted by Carolina
Ok... Every time I log into this thread this cat has something different: From FPV to FHV to FIV to FIP and finally Seizures...
If he is epileptic, he needs medicine to control his seizures.
Unfortunately it sounds like you got two bad vets in a row... I a sorry...Originally Posted by Konner920
They just felt him and said "It could be FIV or FIP from the way he's acting."
The first vet gave him Baytril
The second vet gave him Mirtazapine to stimulate his appetite.

There is no way a vet could say something like that just by feeling your cat.
About FIV: Is this an inside cat? Where did you get this cat from? Usually you get the kitten tested when you get it - the shelter, rescue or breeder will tell you it is FIV negative. From that time on, the only way it can get it is if it roams outside and it is bitten on a fight, or through mating, etc - basically through blood or bodily fluids exchange, much like AIDS. There is a vaccine for it, which is given for outside cats.
If this is an inside cat, it is very unlike he has FIV.
There is no testing for FIP, as I said... You see it much more often in kittens or in cats with FeLV for example...
Too bad you didn't get an x-ray.... but oh well...
IMHO I would not take these "diagnosis" too seriously though - as I said, there is no way a vet can just take a look at your cat once and say that is what it has.
Plus, your cat had an accident.... That seems to be skipping their attention completely.
Anyways, good luck with the kitty.... Hope he gets better...
Make sure to keep him eating - I can not stress this enough - very very important.
He's been sleeping under my brother's bed so we put a bowl of canned catfood and a bowl of water under there and he's been eating it and drinking it.Originally Posted by Carolina

Yeah, cats do hide and can act aggressive when they are sick - this is very normal.Originally Posted by Konner920

We got him from my cousin who had a scottish fold cat and a yellow tabby. She bread the scottish fold and the tabby and got a bunch of scottish folds. He is a inside cat. We have another cat that doesn't have a breed. He's just a domestic shorthair apparently with tuxedo fur, He doesn't like my scottish fold much at all anymore. The cat that is sick is the scottish fold (His name is Meow Mix, we just call him meow mostly) and the other cat's name is Puppy chow (Which we call puppy mostly) Anyways, They are both inside cats and they never go outside unless it's to a vet. They are both extremely sweet and extremely good natured and love everyone. Since meow mix got sick like this he has been extremely skiddish and scared of anyone petting him. He won't let anyone pick him up or he will hiss and growl. It's upsetting to see him this sad. There's nothing we can do but let him be and make sure he eats the food under the bed. He's randomly been eating out of the actual catbowl but I don't know if he's actually used the litter box at all. It looked like he peed in the floor last night.
Another thing, His eyes are dilated 24/7
Then your cat is not a Scottish Fold, he is a domestic shorthair. A moggie. If a cat is not purebred, then it is a moggie. You don't get Scottish Folds from breeding Fold x moggie. Please don't claim your cat is a specific breed when he isn't. There are other breeds with folded ears besides a Scottish Fold, so folded ears do not automatically make the cat a Scottish Fold (just like not all the tailless cats are Manx).Originally Posted by Konner920

^My earlier reply from the time you showed the pictures of your cat.. just thought to add it here again in case it was ignored in the first place.Originally Posted by NorthernGlow
I hope yor cat is feeling better already. I must ask though, is he really a Scottish Fold? I mean does he have registration papers? His face doesn't look like a foldie at all, but it could be the dark picture fooling me. Why I'm asking this is because he could have some bone-issues (all of them doesn't show in the x-ray) if he is from a kitten mill or mixed breed and something is wrong with him. Are his legs and tail ok, he lets you handle them and they aren't sore?
Well I don't know if he is. That's what we was told. we got him free we didn't pay for a cat.Originally Posted by NorthernGlow
