I broke down 2 weeks ago and bought Google a new turbo scratcher because he LOVED is last one, but he took the ball out of it and lost it so he lost interest. Well this one now has a missing ball... and I swear I think he ate it! We cannot find it ANYWHERE! We've looked behind the couches, under the tables, everywhere...
Can anyone recommend a toy that is like the turbo scratcher but that the ball CANNOT come out of?

Oh my gosh! That's hysterical, but I'm sure it's frustrating as well. How about buying some cheapo ping pong balls and putting them in the track? I know it's not the same and they can come out, but at least they're cheap!

I agree, try other types of balls.

I tried other balls and it didn't work as good with light weight balls, if you can find heavier ones I bet it would work though! They sell catnip balls at Walmart that are kind of heavy, but I think they might be slightly too big. The light weight ones don't go as far 'round as heavy ones, they go a few inches & stop. Well, the ones I tried did anyway.

My cats got the ball out a few times when I first got ours, but after I put it back over and over they stopped doing that. The dog tried stealing the ball too, but eventually gave up. The dog actually plays with the turbo scratcher like the cats too, and she is medium sized lol. The cardborad part only lasted us 2-3 months, we are long doe for a refil lol.

HAHA our middle part only lasted 2 weeks! The entire center is gone at the moment! I think I will try to find something. I may order a light up ball from amazon

Mollipop has really done a number on that cardboard center! It's rapidly getting torn to shreds and she has torn the center of the cardboard out more times than I care to count. I'm not complaining....better the turboscratcher than the carpet or furniture. Although I do wish she'd stop clawing at the bedroom wall.

Give a golf ball a go.

I tried forever to find suitable replacements and then my 7 year old son decided to show me up in about 30 seconds. Ta da!

You can get refills for the center. They're quite reasonably priced at Petsmart. And if your cat really likes the cardboard, you can get larger cardboard scratchers, too.

I've never had the ball come out of the turboscratcher. I even flip it upside down to get the litter out of the track (how DO they get litter in such weird places?). But maybe mine is a different brand. Anyway, a golf ball should work.

LOL! That's exactly what I use now.

I noticed you can buy replacement balls as well as cardboard for the turboscratchers, and some of those replacement balls have flickering lights in them. I haven't gotten around to actually picking one up, but I think I will next weekend.

I'll let you guys know how well received it is, and how long it stays in.

we go through a refill at least once a month and thats with just one cat with claws... he goes on a rampage and will usually kill it within the first few days. We are in need of a new one at the moment but I havent made it to petsmart yet to pick one up!
I will probably break down and buy a light up ball. Although there may be a golf ball in the garage... I will check that tomorrow!
