How often do you clean out your car?

My car is usually pretty clean, I don't eat in the car and tend to take any rubbish with me.

My car usually gets cleaned the night before I have to go with my boss to a work event and I'm driving.

It used to be the night before I carpooled with anyone, but then all of my car-poolers commented on how I shouldn't apologize for the state of my car since they all had or had family who had, cars that were worse.

I hate cleaning the car...in case that wasn't obvious.

I wash Clarence (my car) once a month. Completely clean the inside out once a month. And have it professionally washed, waxed, and detailed twice a year. In fact, this Friday, the washer-guy is coming over to where I work to pick my car up for his fall cleaning. When he brings it back Friday afternoon, you'd swear it was a new car.....and he's ten years old (the car, not the washer-guy).

I like my washer-guy....he does a good job.

When I was in college, my car usually looked like it was hit by a hurricane. Books and papers all over the place. It was ugly. I keep him much cleaner now.

Poor Caterina (my car) is a mess. I don't eat in there, but my work is itinerant and I have need of different items at each place.

There is no room in my tiny apartment to store any of that stuff so it piles up in the car. Ugh! I shovel the stuff all out every few months, but it takes seconds, it seems, to fill back up. Drives me insane but I can't seem to get a handle on it.

I once bought one of those organizer things to sit on the back seat and that filled up with junk so fast I took it out.

As for vacuuming her. I think I've done it once in the past year, though when she was new I vacuumed every week.

I get in and out of her so often (as do my consumers) there are pebbles and dirt accumulated. I live in farm country, not many people have paved driveways.

Great thread topic and funny responses.

Well...My old car bit the dust about a month ago and when I cleaned it out (it took about an hour and a half to clean it out) I had 2-3 trash bags full of trash and 2 containers of stuff I needed to go thru...make that three I had a Sam's Club bag that was almost full too.

My new to me car I've managed to keep the car fairly clean. I bought a permanent trash bag and have continued to use it.
My trunk is another story. I've got stuff that need to go to Goodwill soon BUT it's way too hot here in Texas for me to go over there (that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it
)

My washer-guy just came into the office to get my keys, so Clarence is on his way to a good cleaning. I cleaned him out last night, basically removing all the loose change in the console and taking the maps out of the pockets in the passenger door. (We always keep a good map in our vehicles.) I keep an upholstery blanket in the back of the Cruiser, too, so that if I have to haul anything, the blanket will help keep the carpet in the trunk a little cleaner. Comes in handy when I'm hauling salt for the water softener or potting soil or bags of cat litter. Stuff like that.

Anyway, he should come back around 1:00 or so.

Sometimes I get lazy and don't clean it out until no one but myself can sit in the dang thing. When it gets to the point when, as a passenger, I have to sit on a pile of crap rather than the seat...then I clean it out.

Lately though, I've been keeping it clean and clean it out every night when I get home from work. In fact I just recently detailed it myself and it looks pretty nice! The most I have in it is a couple pairs of clean socks and my purse. The socks are for my work b/c I work in a daycare and we can't wear shoes in our room (babies) but I HATE the thought of going barefoot on the same floor that babies crawl on. Gross (for them). So I keep a weeks worth of socks in my car.

You're supposed to clean out your car?

I have a 2006 Toyota that I haven't cleaned since I bought it. I do empty out the water bottles and diet coke cans that land on the floor in the back seat when I'm at the recycling center, but that is the only trash that accumulates. I've never vacuumed it, nor have ever washed the exterior. The guys at Jiffy Lube usually do a quick vacuum for me, and a good midwest rain takes care of the exterior.

I do keep telling myself to get in there and clean it out, as I've been using it to haul lumber and mulch all year. It is getting a bit grungy of late.

My daughter tells me my car always looks like it has just been detailed so I guess that means I keep it neat and clean all the time.
