We have a stray cat that had 6 kittens in our garage. (so cute) Anyway we moved the momma and her kittens to a small kind of playhouse we have. Cleaner, safer. The problem is that now that the kittens are about 3 weeks old the momma keeps trying to move them under the hen house. Not a very good place, exposes the kittens to other critters that might harm them, raccoons, squirrels, maybe even the chickens. Anyone know why she wants them there? Any ideas on how to get momma to keep them where they are. We are thinking that maybe we need to move them inside the house and keep them all there. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks

that is actually a great idea if it is possible for you. This way it is much easier to foster them into sociale cats...

Good luck!

Everyone is much safer in one room in the house. Bring everyone in and keep them there until mom gets spayed so you are not dealing with more kittens. If she is left outside, she will be pregnant again while nursing the kittens.

If you are planning on keeping the kittens, get them spayed/neutered by 3-4 months old; otherwise if you don't want to keep any of them or the mother, take them to the shelter when the kittens are 8 weeks old.

Absolutely plan on spaying to momma. Thought we had to wait until she was done nursing. I've heard it is much better to wait until the kittens are 10 weeks old before taking them from the mother. Better social adjustment and all

Yes, the house is a much better idea. Keep them confined in a room the their mother- they'll be alot healthier, safer and better with people that way.
The reason the mother is moving them is because outside there are alot of predators, so in the wild they have to keep changing their nests so that the scent doesn't attract animals. Also, if you've been in her nest area, it may be strssing out mom cat a bit, which makes her feel she needs to move them- It's probably nothing you were doing, just an instinct of mother cats.
