My recovery from mu knee operation has been going so well - the physio told me on Friday that she thought I could even start to drive again within a week, taking it gently. Then on Saturday everything went wrong. A new family moved into my rental cottage and I looked out around 5 PM to see their small boy chasing Bonaparte across the yard and right out of the garden. I went out and asked his mother to tell him not to chase the cats, and waited for B to return. It was not till 11 PM, despite much calling, that he returned and I was so relieved that I rushed outside without crutches, reached for him and immediately slipped on wet gravel. I landed on my bad leg and could not get up. When my niece, who is staying with me, managed to get me into the house I was in agony and had to stay the night on the sofa as I could not make it up the stairs or even to the bathroom. Now, three days later, I am still in pain but I think the new knee is ok - the pain seems to be in the thigh muscle. I am going to try and make it to my physio appointment this afternoon if I can get in the back of the car.

I don't know who to be angry with - the boy, Bonaparte or myself! But it was just one of those things. I have put off the idea of driving for at least a week and I have promised everyone I will not try to pick up any cats again, inside or outside the house!

Your healing process was going so well,
I am sorry to learn about this set-back.
If you can't make it to your physio appointment maybe you should see your doctor to be sure you have not damaged your knee.
Better safe than sorry.

Sending healing vibes right to your knee.

The physio says she thinks it is Ok, but that I should go to the doctor to double check and probably get an Xray. She could not understand why I went rushing out to get him instead of waiting. Well, I don't need to explain that to you lot!

I am glad to hear that

I know I did the same thing (well not the same, but you know) when I first went back to work after having carpal tunnel surgery, I tripped over a water hose and the choice was to land on my hands or my head on a concrete floor. My hands got it, and I went to emerg. Turned out I only severely bruised the area, but the swelling caused it to hurt for a few days.

I'm wondering if there is bruising, or some sort of inflammation that is causing the pain still. An xray wouldn't hurt just to make sure there's no small breaks, etc.

Please keep us posted.... that you get back on your feet and road to recovery.

I saw the doctor this morning and he said the same as the physio - probably ok but let's get an Xray to check. And that it would be a good idea to do a control anyway at this stage. So I am booked in for next Tuesday. I do feel better today though not yet as well as I was last Saturday before the fall.

Oh Jenny!

Poor Bonaparte - poor Jenny's leg/knee.... and hopefully little boy has learned his lesson!

Glad to hear Doc agrees with physio. Of course I hope they're both right!
