Is Mr SOCKoooo hiding food?

I have a Siamese mixed rescue that I have been owned by for 13 months now Mr SOCKoooo constantly puts my socks in a dry food bowl 1-4 times a day almost everyday since I rescued him last July 5th 2009 Mr SOCKoooo does NOT eat dry food and will only eat wet canned food. I leave my socks on a table (unfolded as I am single) Why would Mr SOCKoooo keep putting socks in a food bowl that he does NOT even eat out of? PS.......I have 4 other cats that do eat both wet and dry food

That's hysterical, Slave2_Ragdolls.

Maybe he's offended and is covering up the bowl with something he thinks smells good? (Or vice versa?!)

I love Siamese! I'm doing a check on your posts now to see if I can find pics of this little charmer....

Thanks for the advice........ Mr SOCKoooo has no posted pictures yet......I will take a couple of snapshots within a week or so and post them here. Mr SOCKoooo was renamed due to his repeating "sock" habits daily over the last year.......Why does he continue to do this???

I look forward to seeing his pic. I found several of your other cats - who, by the way, are STUNNINGLY gorgeous - but none of him.

He is attempting a well documented behavior... In the wild cats hide food so others do not get it( I have one who does this with towels) ... Your socks evidently cover the smell well in his thinking

Thank you ... I have a ceramic pie plate and use large dinner plates for wet food they are on the carpet in the " area" which is a gated two rooms and a hallway... Sylvie find s a nice towel to drag over the wet food when he thinks all are done

My Bugsy will always cover his and everyone's food, he will drag toys, sock, towels, blankets, shirts, whatever he can he will go from plate to plate and cover them - silly boy

For what I read, Sharky's description is right on - there is also an issue of keeping predators away in the wild.... But mainly is keeping the food safe for later.

Here is Bugsy, regretting covering his food too soon with his toy Squirrel
