My dd Lexi has her Christining this weekend, one of my dreams since my wedding is having my wedding gown made into a christining gown for my child. I looked ALL OVER, even before I got pregnat for someone to do this, and could not find anyone. Once I found out I was having a baby, I started looking for a gown, but could not find anything I liked. I was complaining about this to one of my really good friends, and told her what I REALLY wanted, which is probally why nothing was living up to what I wanted, WELL, she told me her mother sews and could probally make the dress for me! After speaking with her mom she offered to make the dress for me as a gift! It was so wonderful of her!!! I picked the dress up today and it is PERFECT, she even made a bonnet and booties! What do you think???

What a beautiful job your friends mother did, the christening dress is just gorgeous and your baby looked beautiful in it. What a great thing you did, I wouldn't have thought of it and you made good use of your wedding gown....twice.

What a great idea!

Was she complaining that she's not going to be able to wear your wedding dress for her wedding?

I just love your idea - and, it's a lot easier to store this Christening gown than a wedding dress.

Wow! That is such a neat idea!

I get some of the best ideas from this forum.

p.s. Both you and Lexi look beautiful in the dress.

Oh wow!
What a beautiful idea and a beautiful dress on both of you!

She really did a wonderful job and I'm sure Lexi will enjoy the story of the dress when she's old enough to hear it.

Oh it looks so beautiful!
What a lovely idea for your dress!

Why do babies always cry during their christening? When I was baptized, I was crying so hard, the priest joked that I apparently wasn't on board with the proceedings.

Just thought I'd share a pic from this weekend
Things went beautifully, though Lexi wasn't feeling well (she has BAD refulx) but she was a perfect angel during the ceremony!

Here she is with her godparents (my BIL and my best friend):

she wanted nothing to do with the bonnett.... it was too hot!
