Meet Herbie

Herbie is our newest foster. As you can see, this guy is MASSIVE. I've never seen another kitty quite his size! He's settled into our bedroom with no other kitties as he's going to be on a diet. Poor guy can not properly groom himself, but I've already given him a proper brushing (which he loved) and cut out a few mats he had on his back. He's a real purr box!

Herbie is a gorgeous boy & he looks sweet as can be.
Sending vibes that you are able to help him lose that excess weight.

Aw, I love Herbie!! He looks so laid back and agreeable!!

Here's hoping he can loose some of that excess wt. Wet cat food will take some of the wt off him.

Give him a hug for me!!

Hi Herbie! He looks like one of the cats we had when I was growing up... Puddin. Puddin had a lot of excess weight too, but not that much!

for getting him down to a healthy weight so he can have a long happy life!

Thanks all! Yes, I'm putting him on a good quality wet food diet. I'm also going to test his interest in the lazer pointer and Da Bird. He's only 2 years old too, surrendered when his previous owners moved.

Wow. Poor baby. That cannot be comfortable. Probably free-fed junky dry food all his life. that you can help him!

As sweet as Herbie appears to be, I know he must not be as comfortable as he could eventually be once his weight gets down to a healthy point. But, if anyone could help a lovely boy like that, it would be you and Dana.

I can't believe Herbie is only 2 years old! His quite the hefty little (ha ha ) man, but I believe, with a quality diet that is monitored by you and his veterinarian, he will be able to lose weight and become the young chap he is meant to be. He's certainly handsome and I think he should have no trouble finding a new home once the time is right.

So, welcome Herbie. You couldn't have gone to a more wonderful foster home. Hopefully, you'll get over being surrendered by your previous owners and go on to be a loving, cherished member of a family.

I just knew I would love him the minute I read your description in your first post. And I love his name!! He is adorable, and I agree that he couldn't be in a better place than with you and your DH. He's gonna lose that weight and get some exercise and be loved and cared for and then........a furrever home somewhere!!

Welcome to Herbie! What a handsome little guy, but I'm so glad he's going to go on a diet. I'm sure he'll be so much happier when he gets some of that weight off.

Oh he IS so incredibly sweet!

We already have a FEW people interested in him as well! One is a woman who saw him at the store he was in, fell in love and even brought home the papers. She is between jobs right now though and is just waiting to get on her feet before starting adoption proceedings.

Another has asked if he is good with kids, and although he is sweet, he has a tendency to "love nip" when being pet, so that may surprise/frighten small children, so I guess it would depend on their ages.

The third is related to a woman I work with. She sent off his photos and all about him and they're very interested in meeting him. It's SO NICE to have options!
