Pop, pop, pop!

I live in SE Michigan.

When I lived in W. NY it was also pop.

In NC - soda or co'cola.

Usually I say the name of what I want.

But if asked if I want soda or... I say soda. My grandmother called it pop, though, and she was born and raised in maryland. I found in West Va they call it pop. Cause they have pop machines!

I can't vote as there are no options for "Coke". I've lived in Texas my entire life and all I grew up calling it "Coke", no matter what variety (Coke, Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Big Red). Now I just call it a drink.

My Sister-In-Law comes from Jackson, Michigan and I always laugh at her when she says "Pop!" LOL

In the Philippines there's a soft drink called "Pop Cola". If you order a soda in a restaurant, you will get soda water.

In Australia it's soft drink
But in my part of the US (Northern California), it's soda.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I normally say the name of what I want when ordering but if I dont know what brand a restaurant carries I just say Diet.

In general terms I say soda..For some odd reason Pop just doesnt flow as well probably because no matter where I lived NC, KS, FL, MD, PA, and ND it has always been soda and nothing else.

actually, in my part of the country, we usually say 'coke' - which is then followed by the name of the drink.
i.e.: do you want a coke?
yes.
what kind?
i've started saying soda, some, but old habits die hard! otoh, i never drink carbonated drinks - i'm an iced tea person. iced water is my 2nd choice.
