Follow up on my skin kid's swim meet.

Stephanie asked about my dd on another thread, so I thought I'd put a proper follow up post on here. The swim meet was last Thursday afternoon.

DD did pretty well. Two sixth places. Her last race was to be her best chance to medal, but somehow there was a mix up out at the "ready area" and she was not called up and MISSED HER RACE! We were all bitterly disappointed, but this was the first time in 4 years of racing anything really bad has happened, so we moved on pretty quickly. She can try it again in January in Frisco---we like that pool better anyway.

It was scorching hot. The heat index was 109, temp was 103. We were in full sun during the viewing so had umbrellas and spray bottles. There were older folks and one who was obviously undergoing chemo sitting around us so I got busy being a mother hen and kept them sprayed and cooled as best I could. Between my daughter's first and second events we sat in the car with the AC running. At the end of the meet as I was leaving I had to sit down on the sidewalk right quick to catch my breath but was OK after a few seconds.

Congratulations to Stephanie Just being there at the end is a feat!

I don't do hot weather and sun so I can appreciate how much effort it takes.

Hooray for your DD! How unfortunate that they didn't call her for her best event, though. Major bummer! Glad she gets another shot, though.

I was thinking about ya'll being out in the heat. Sheesh, it's been soooooooooo hot!
