Well if it hasn't killed me yet in feeding pets and not washing my hands right after, I'm not really sure I totally believe this story!

I know what you mean. I've always kept cat food in the kitchen and fed the various cats I had over the years in the kitchen. I've never had any problems either, but thought I should pass the information along.

I have bowls ON the counter for the cats to eat in peace and the dog to stay away:S I also hand fed kittens when I first got them and a few ferals. Interesting topic tho

If I'm going to feed a food to my cats that isn't safe enough for me to handle with my own hands, I'm not a very good mama am I? If I can't handle it, they're not eating it. Period.

This is nonsense. I feed my cats (the wildcats) an all raw meat diet. I handle the meat without gloves and there had been times when I forgot to wash my hands and had something to eat. I have not been sick once from feeding my cats.
