I'm miserable at my job and am looking to make a change. The medical field is supposed to be growing. Xray/mri technician looks very interesting to me. I was wondering where do you go to learn this profession? Is it a college course, trade school? Also how long is school and what kind of classes are necessary? Is is a union job, how are the benefit and pay? Any information would be great. I gotta get out of where I am now.

I have looked into radiology some. I believe a college here offers a year and a half program, but havent looked into it too much! Its definitely worth the time I think!

GOOD LUCK!

Sad to say, but I feel a GREAT career area in the upcoming years will be mortuary sciences. With all the healthcare changes, and the economy being so bad that people ignore symptoms and preventive care, plus the growing problem of morbid obesity and those complications, I feel there will be an increase in the death rate in our population. It's a fascinating field, once you get past the idea of working with the dead.

My BIL is a Cat Scan tech but he started as an X-Ray tech. I know he got an assocates degree and certification to work with the machines. He started to get certified to work with the MRI but decided to stick with the Cat Scan. he has a great job at a famous hospital and loves it.

i think its only two years but I am not sure since he did the course work years ago. But i can find out if you want.

I am a Radiography student.

The classes you need depend on the college, and your previous schooling. I actually got to skip a few classes since I already had their equivlent in High School. At my school a Rad degree is between 1.5-2yrs.

Look up local colleges, they have websites with tons of info. You can see if they offer Radiography classes, and what the requirements are.

Good luck!
