I've been without sunglasses for years!

I wear wire frame prescription eye glasses and most clip-ons make them too heavy, and those large "fit over" kind are too uncomfortable because you are wearing 2 pair of glasses. I've tried both and just don't like them. And I won't spend the money on prescription sunglasses or lenses that go dark under certain lighting conditions.

Today while at Safeway I saw some clip-ons in the exact shape of my own eye glasses. The nice thing about them is that the part that joins the lenses together expands in order to fit over your eye glasses. They are not the flip up type. The glasses are held in place by 2 little prongs on each outer edge of the glasses, so they are firmly in place and don't look like obvious clip-ons.

I tried them before I bought them and absolutely love them. They're light weight and easy to put on and take off.

The ones I got are the 3rd ones up if you count from left to right.

$20.00. So much cheaper than prescription sunglasses!

i prefer the 'over the glasses' type when i'm wearing my glasses - blocks sun from the top & sides as well as the front.
the sunglasses i wear w/my contact lenses are similar - sides go pretty far. i'm quite sun-sensitive - i think it's probably somewhat related to my migraines.

I do have a pair of what I call "Goggles" by Blue Blocker. They cover all around and fit over your glasses. But I find them very uncomfortable. My ears sit very close to my scalp and the extra thickness of having to eye glass arms behind my ears is just too uncomfortable.

I have Polar Optics that look just like your solar shields. They fit my lenses and expand and are held by outer prongs. I love them. They don't rub on the lens like other clip-ons do, so no scratches.

My Blue Blocker shield ones look like the one in the first link. They really block out the sun, but it's the double glass arm behind the ears that bother me plus they're clunky to have in my purse (I don't like big purses).

If the one I bought today doesn't work out, I'll likely go back to my Blue Blockers because I really liked the way my eyes felt while wearing them...rested.

I also have a pair or regular Blue Blocker sunglasses. And when I only needed single vision lenses, I was able to wear these sunglasses and still be able to see quite clearly. But now that I have progressive lenses, that pair isn't any good because I can't see in the distance....like 15 feet! LOL

I wear those over my glasses - can't stand clip-ons because they let too much light behind the lenses. The ones I get are also polycarbonate so they don't scratch or break easily, not even with dirt and stones kicked up in my face jogging horses. I like the yellow ones at night - really brighten things up when I am bogging around in the fields at night and use them for shooting too.

Funny you should mention this.....I just picked up my prescription sunglasses last night.

I wear my sunglasses more than I ever wear my regular glasses. I wear sunglasses to drive in all but the most dreary of days. Most winter days, too. When I'm out walking, I use my sunglasses. When DH and I decided that we needed new glasses, I got new prescription sunglasses, but didn't bother with new regular glasses.

Because I hardly ever wear my regular glasses; they're no-line bifocals and frankly, they're a pain in the posterior area to wear....I'm always nodding my head when I'm on the computer or trying to read the newspaper or a book. I gave up and don't wear any glasses to read now. The only time I wear my regular glasses is when I'm driving at night. That's it.

But I wouldn't be caught dead without my sunglasses. They're also no-line bifocals, but I don't use them for anything close-up so it's OK.

Me too! I love my prescription sunnies and never go anywhere without them. I have a couple pairs, and they're graduated tint from plain in the bottom shaded to darker at the top of the lens. This means I can wear them on most days and go inside without having to take them off. For really bright days like at the beach though, I need proper fully tinted sunglasses.
I tried clip-ons when I first got glasses, but I hated having to always carry them around with me and they felt bulky and heavy.

I have prescription sunglasses and wear them when needed. I wear my bifocals all the time including when reading. When on the computer I have prescription reading glasses. Being on the internet with bifocals is not a good thing. They have a darker lens also so being on the computer is very relaxing and no strain on the eyes so in total I have 3 prescriptions, it works for me.

The yellow ones are night vision and hunting/target shooting. I got used to this type of shades in a hurry when I found they kept all kinds of debris from getting behind my glasses.
