I know on one of these threads, someone was looking for Bonito flakes for cats. Well I found some online and even though they're a tad expensive, part of the cost funds food for shelter animals. I thought you guys would love to check it out.

The site (link to the flakes below) has a TON of other pet-themed items, including some coffee mugs I'm going to buy, and all of these adorable items help buy food for shelter animals.

Here's the link to the flakes:

How does this price compare to what some of you pay for your bonito flakes?

Well that's not too bad then, considering you're buying about 14 bowls of food for a shelter kitty or doggy too when you buy it. I'm thinking of ordering some next payday.

It may have been my thread.

I mentioned that I got Bear some Tuna Flakes from the pet store (on sale cheap) and someone told me that I could prob get them cheaper at the grocery store. He loves them.

If I had extra money I would buy them, just to support the shelter. I am broke as a joke right now tho.

I paid $4.89 for 50 grams, which is about 1 and 3/4 ounces, in the Japanese food section of the grocery store - a local upscale chain that caters to the large Japanese population in the area.

ETA - that works out to be around 2.78/ounce.

ETA2 - ok - looking around, maybe it was 5 grams of bonito??? Thought the bag said 50. Shoot, Now I gotta go look again.

Still, there is the donation factor. I'd feel pretty good about buying this treat for my kitties, knowing I was also feeding another cat for about 2 weeks. (the price hike pays for about 14 bowls of food)

Anyway, even if I don't get the Bonito flakes, there are so many other wonderful things (and reasonable priced) on this site that I'm probably getting all my christmas gifts from there! I love it. Every purchase feeds a cat. That's a great way to get ME to spend money.

And I commend you for it. I personally use my business to support a special needs kitty on a monthly basis and for the donations i make to rescue groups, fund raisers etc. it's a great part of what I do, as well as simply loving kitties and finding good stuff for them.
