My previous thread seems to have vanished, but I've ended up taking in a cat that walked into my apartment about two months ago, and I brought it home in at that time against my better judgement. Basically, since then, my boss has had me on a constant travel schedule (I was home for four days in July total).

During this time my mother has been taking care of the cat but its been torturing her, by licking her face at four in the morning, yowling, and if she kicked the cat out of her room, the cat takes a dump right infront of the room (he otherwise uses the litterbox normally the rest of the time). My mom is at her wits end, and I don't blame her, and I've been commanded to surrender the cat. Unfortunately, with kitty session in full throttle, I've had issues finding a no-kill shelter in NYC.

I need help finding a place I can surrender the cat to ASAP, or some other solution, help!

Oh no. I remember your thread well. Have you tried Feliway (many swear by it) to calm this kitty? He is definitely making some sort of statement by retaliating when kicked out of the bedroom. Can he be confined to a room for the night?

Also, lots of folks have used Rescue Remedy - maybe you can check into that? I hope against hope that you don't have to give up on this little guy, he CLEARLY chose you for a reason. I'm sure he misses you terribly when you're gone.

I hope someone more knowledgeable will respond with help.

The choice is not mine, and my mom isn't willing to put in the effort, and as I won't be able to take the cat in myself on my own for quite possible another half a year, there's not a lot I can do :-/

Apartment is too small to be able to do that, she can hear him no matter where he is, and it won't stop him from holding it in until he can leave a **** in front of her door.
