I get crosspost and forwarded emails all the time - people trying to rehome animals, cats and kittens found, etc. I was able to help in some small way this time.

Got one that an older lady wanted a longhaired, declawed adult cat, preferably male. OK - I don't have one nor does our rescue. While perusing CL I saw a post from one of the local "friends of" , trying to change things at a high kill county shelter near me (not the one I am involved in.)

The cat was a fluffy, orange, ft. declawed 3 yo male named Sunny, dumped when his owners had a baby. There he was -cowering in his litter pan.

Well, I thought - maybe the lady would be interested in THiS cat and she'd save a life. I called her and she expressed interest but had already been contacted by a rescuer down in Toledo, OH who was bringing a cat for her to meet. Turns out I KNOW that person. So I emailed her.

I also contacted that "Friends of" group and arranged to have the kitty pulled. I covered the pull fee.

I got these two rescue folks together and the one in OH drove to pick up the orange cat... took BOTH to the potential adopter and the lady just LOVED Sunny and will be giving him a home!!!

48 hrs ago, this precious cat had a very uncertain future .... now he has a doting human and a loving home!!!

I teared up when I heard the news. I am not trying to pat myself on the back or puff myself up. I am just glad that I decided to try to do something. Like dropping a pebble in a pond... and caused some positive ripples.

Here are pics of Sunny in his temp foster home right after he was pulled from the shelter:

Maybe the rescuers can send his new owner a care pack of high quality wet food as well to get things off on the right foot as he does look to be a bit of an obesity project.
Most kitties will lose weight nicely even when there is a can in front of them at all times.
