Whenever I have my windows open (cause it's nice out), I get a lot of flies in the house for some reason. There are screens in all of the windows so I'm not sure how they are getting in.

Anyway, my cat Midnight goes nuts when he sees a fly and stalks it all over the house and eats the damn things! Just now, he caught one in his mouth and it was still buzzing while he chewed it up! So gross!

My question is, if he catches like, 4-6 flies per day and eats them, is he going to get sick? I don't want him to get sick from eating these stupid things. But I like having my windows open and getting fresh air. What do you guys think?

Cats eat a lot worse things in the wild so a few flies shouldn't hurt at all. Mine love moths, if one gets in it is caught and ate. I watched the outside one attack and one of them ate a worm(earthworm, not the other kind) once they were done playing with it.

Cats eat all sorts of bugs and unless it's poisonous(scorpion, black widow/ other spider, etc) it shouldn't hurt. I just consider it extra protein.

They fly around and move so it's something to hunt and of course once they catch it they have to eat it.

If you are really worried about it talk to your vet but every cat I know of catches and eats bugs and none of them get sick from it.

My cats have eaten so many flies in their time and have never had any problems what so ever.
Who needs a fly swatter when you have cats?
