OK so I have been sitting here for a bit trying to think of what to make for tonight. I have been to the freezer many times. Saw the one roast we have and thought I could cut it into steaks. But I have no idea what to pair it with. What would go well with steak?

Well except for the mac and cheese

Thing is my mother is a very picky eater. While I like the sound of all your suggestions my mother wouldn't touch any of it

Ditto! With a twice-baked potato. Or horseradish mashed potatoes. And a caramel apple pie for dessert.

How about whole new potatoes, the small ones, boiled then topped with melted butter and dill or sauteed chives? Green peas, or other in season veg that she likes topped with butter or nothing? Maybe a peach crisp for dessert? Goronzola sauce is also good on steak.

What I like with steak is a macaroni salad made with italian dressing. Cube some monteray jack or colby cheese, some garbonzo beans, dice up some green olives. Add some grated romano cheese just before serving and stir it in. I also chop up some mild banana peppers too. Use what you like. Some people also put in pepperoni.

I use the multi colored macaroni. It usually comes in spirals. You can make ahead and chill. Maybe some ear corn to go with the meal too.

Dessert, maybe sherbet or ice cream cones.

OK now that I am sufficiently hungry, think I will grab a cookie....

Sour dough or French baquette with some good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A fresh salad, sauted mushrooms and onions.

I don't usually do desserts, but at this time of year fresh fruit would be just great.

i'm like Nikki - i think just about anything goes w/steak. my choice, like in a restaurant, is usually salad & some kind of potato. i would consider salada & baked potato as 'classic' sides for steak [check out any steakhouse menu!] but if you'd prefer something like green beans & corn, that would also go well.
good bread goes w/anything!

I make steak quite a lot and I usually make a baked potato and a veggie with it. Also any type of salad goes with a steak. If you want something fast and easy, this is perfect.

I'm going for steak and lobster tail tonight
Ruby Tuesday's summer seafood specials are back.

I love some steamed broccoli with my steak, and yeast rolls.
