i am so happy I found an apartment...they actually asked me if i needed a place! my friends parents own the place and my friend use to live there and I always loved the place. they are cool with the four cats....and oh just so good to be out of this place and in bigger space with windows....a new start will be so good as its been tough in this apartment the past year and half...people like to die in my apartment...but anyways....YAY...I'm happy..the cats will be happy. oh but its carpets...only thing I am worried about with cats...I have a puker...& someone likes to scratch in the corners....any suggestions? I have to large trees & scratching board.....

When we lived at a !nice rental! I had about 7 when we moved in and 20 or so on moving out(dumb neighbors kepts getting cats/kittens and took them all in) Any way I put vinyl ontop of the carpet in my room and spare cat room. the carpet did mess up in some other area but nothing major that carpet patch didnt fix(took carpet from closets) I taped it to walls and upon moving out we knew the walls were all to be repainted-came with 4 year contract and landlord told us up front paint if you want to as it all goes back to white.

I guess that was a drastic move but also did wonders for allergies. How good is the carpet and how long are you staying?

Keep nails trimmed and invest in a mini carpet cleaner(or get a shop vac and make up batches of the fomula lightly. artifical colors will cause stains and are found in the supermarket brands. so if they are eating that and its light colored rug try to get them off that.

Wow! That is wonderful - truly it is meant to be
I agree with the idea of protecting the carpets with bits of linoleum or area rugs. You're so considerate - you're gonna make an ideal tenant
I am sending prayers and vibes that you and your cats are very happy in your new home

Congrats on the good find!!

Genever is a puker as well so last xmas I asked BF for a Bissell Little Green. It was about $20 or so cheaper than the Bissell Spot Bot. It's great for cat puke stains! And other stains probably, I actually never had to use it for anything else.

We just moved to a house where the only carpet is in both bedrooms, so we probably won't need to use it much anymore.
In fact we moved in a week ago today and she's only puked once. Maybe she will not be puking so much here, I can tell already she loves the place. I hope the same happens for your kittty!

Right here! :)
Congrats on the new home!

I don't have any advise for the carpets, I have never had cats on carpets, thankfully, I have got one ill puker and one pee-er (who specializes in peeing on my stuff.... in my shoes, in my sportspag, in my crochetbag, in my old sofachair, on my books....), so I would need advise if I were to live with them on carpets!

Good luck in your new home! I am sure all will work out great! My Chester always liked to scratch corners of my cardboard boxes I have in my storage area. I had to change them all to plastic containers to save my stuff.
I got him his own boxes to play in and scratch around on. He likes the cardboard scratching post. If you guys like cardboard maybe try that to deter them from scratching corners. Catnip, if they like it, can draw them to it.

Enjoy your new home when you move!
