Okay I am about up for new birth control and I wanted some opinions. I have been on Seasonique before and would love to go back on it, but I dont know if it is an option right now. (I will just be going to the health department or planned parenthood right now since I have just moved up here and I can get it a bit cheaper there no health insurance yet)
Currently I am on Ortho-tricyclin lo and I HATE it! I've been on it for 6 months and it has caused my face to break out constantly, my moods to be very off, and the first day of my period is spent within running distance of the toilet... not fun. So I am wanting to know are there any brands or types that you love? Or on that note that you hated?
Nuvaring kind of creeps me out, just doesnt seem failproof to me.
I would love to get the Mirena but it scares me as well as the cost. Although the Beau did tell me he would help pay for whatever I get.
So opinions?

I'm on Marvalon now after trying SO many different pills... I couldn't take anything low dose because my periods would be almost non stop, the Depo not only make me crazy but I gained a lot of weight on it, and a lot of other pills caused me to have more frequent migraines.
Dana eventually wants to get snipped but no doctors want to do it right now because we're still young.

I've been on yaz for about 5 months now and I'm happy with it...there is a generic now for $5 so that's awesome.

Hi hun, I can't help you much either as I am in Uk too. I have the copper coil, I opted for this as it has no hormones at all and this suits me great as I have just been diagnosed with underactive thyroid and I am on thyroid replacement so the nil horm ones from my bc make it even better.x

I had talked to planned parenthood before about the copper coil but its not an option for me. I went on BC a long time ago because the hormones helped so much with keeping me regular and because my periods were so heavy. So they said that it wasnt a good idea....

I'm on Yaz (right now they are giving me the generic version, because it is $15 versus $55! No complaints as long as works just as well!) I've been on it for 3.5 years now, missed 1 period on it and the dr told me it was probably because I've been on it and used to it so long. My periods definitely got shorter on it, LOVE that. It used to be a 7 day visit, now its around 3-4.

I have wanted to go on Mirena but have been chickening out after reading bad stories. Of course, most people aren't going to post positive experiences about things online in reviews, they usually only think to post when they're upset with something, so there's probably many success stories too. I don't want to be the person who is affected for months and bleed constantly before having to get it taken out again! I have the pill they give you for dilation, and since I've never had a kid they said it'll hurt a bit more initially probably. One day I'll do it ... maybe after vacation ... this past year she asked why I hadn't come in to do it the previous year and I said kind of chickened out/forgot about it. She said if I keep it for the 5 yrs she'll 'fix' me when it comes out.

I'd love to not take a pill everyday. Never wanted Nuvaring or the patch. Doesn't seem as safe to me, even though it is (coworker's wife is on the ring, no babies yet and they're like rabbits
)

Hubby is freaked out about snipping, so he tells me it's up to me
Dr said she'd do it when I was 27-28, do the "Essure" procedure. Wants me to wait 5 more years since we're young. I tell him it'd be so much easier if he just did it but he doesn't buy it

My answer is always the same - Implanon (implant). No pills to take, or patches to change. I think it's 9 years now since I had my first one implanted and I haven't looked back.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
I have the 10 yr copper IUD. I love it, granted it did make my periods a little heavier but nothing drastic. Im not a calender counter either but I always know when Im getting it because exactly 2 wks before Im due I get cramps and then shizam 2 wks later I have it. I love it because I literally have no maintenance with it. Oct 4th Ive got 4 more years then BF and I gotta decide if we are going with another one or not.

I love depo. It only makes me crazy like two days before I need my new shot. No bleeding unless there's major stress -like people dying - in my life. It is so nice to have to worry about my periods!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm currently using the only 100% reliable method [abstinence + time] but, had i ever married, i'd most likely have used barrier + spermicide methods. i went thru menopaus @ 40, so nothing is needed now for PG protection. i was on the pill as a teen/young adult for dysmenorrhea, but didn't like the side effects [mind you, this was about 30 years ago!].

I was on Yaz but had to go off of it for health reasons. Also, it does have some scary side effects that are causing an massive lawsuit...so you might want to check into the side effects online. When I saw a commerical saying has you or a loved one been hurt by taking Yaz/Yasim birthcontrol then call our law offices today....SO i checked it out and YIKES!!!

But that isn't the reason why I went off of it.

I was on Marvelon for like 10 years before we started TTC, and I had no problems with it. Actually now that I am off of it, I am breaking out and I have never had zits before in my life

Don't worry that passes!! I had wonderfully clear skin on the BC and a about two months after I went off it...BAM my acne was back. But it wasn't as bad it was before the BC, IT DOES go away!! (also using some acne washes won't hurt either)

I am on Nuvaring and absolutely LOVE it! I know it is a weird concept but it works great! I have been on it for 3 and 1/2 years now after the doctor tried and tried to find a pill that would regulate my periods. With it I am totally regular and periods are lighter and no side effects to speak of. The first month or two its awkward to put in but after that you get used to it and it doesn't bother you anymore! No pills to remember and no babies to have! I really recommend it!
