Baths/Grooming

Hey everyone! I was wondering how often you guys give your babies a bath? Does anyone take their kitties to be professionally groomed? What's your favorite product?

I just got done giving everybody a good bath and a good brushing. I usually do this about twice a month because my husband is slightly allergic. I use tropiclean papaya shampoo and tropiclean kiwi conditioner. I also did their nails and teeth. I am trying to get the kitten used to having her mouth handled she doesn't like it so far. Gotta love kittens!

I used to bathe mine often to help with allergies but as I got more cats I seem to have built a tolerance for the most part. I do bathe the dog often(he sits in his own waste and every so often a cat who needs it. Use baby shampoo-been using the bedtime ones. Had a baby shampoo YEARS ago all I know was it had noahs ark on bottle and came from health food store but not sure if it was a cat or human baby...Smelled SOOOOOOO Good...

the babies clean themselves, they smell fresh like flowers, they clean very well on their own after 10 years living with me! (David smells like cotton candy, I swear, it's so weird) but no, never bathed any of the kitties, they smell so fresh on their own!

I only bath mine a few times a year, usually at the beginning of show season. I use Biogroom in various formulas depending on the coat type/colour.

You don't need to fully bath them for allergies, you can wipe down with distilled water.

Tessie gets a bath about 2-3 times a year. I use either a black coat shampoo or an oatmeal shampoo, both good for her skin. In between baths I have pet wipes that I use. She is such a good girl and will sit in the tub while I bathe her but when we are all done she will licks herself to death for an hour or so until she is dry, haha.

I give her a bath when she needs it, it has been consistently every single week, occasionally once every 2 weeks. I also clean ears and clip nails immediately following the bath.

Isn't giving your cat a bath all the time bad for their skin and coat?

Many years ago, yes. Now the products are so much better. You can safely bathe your pet once a week with the gentle shampoos that are on the market.

The shampoo and conditioner I use are all natural. They don't contain any chemicals or harsh cleansers. After I bathe mine they are so soft and fluffy and they smell so good!

During the warmer months the cats get bathed once a month sometimes more depending on how dirty they get. The dogs get bathed once a week every 3rd week being with flea shampoo everything in between with Dawn Dishsoap. For some reason Dawn is the only thing that makes my doxie not smell like stale moldy Fritos.

My show cats get a bath before every show. I've always washed all my cats myself with very few problems (I've had one or two that gave me a hard time in washing).

They get special show shampoo (expensive) and I usually start kittens with baths at 3-4 months old so when they are adults they are ok with bathing.

My non-show HHP gets a bath 2-3 times a year and you would think I was drowning her the way she hollers but she never fights me - just complains the entire time!

I never bathe my cats. They are self cleaning. If they got in something mucky of course I would, but that's all. It's not necessary to put cats through stress like that so often, or at all.

Wiping them down twice a day with a damp cloth is much less invasive, and just as effective at controlling dander (dander is what people are allergic to. Dander forms on the hair from saliva when the cat washes)

While some cat may enjoy being bathed, most do not and the stress of it is not good for them. Even if you think they are not feeling stress, they are.

Hello friends here i am disclosing some of the tips regarding pet(Dogs and Cats) grooming.Generally pet grooming is not an easy task what so ever.

Trimming of Nails:-Pet's nails should be regularly trimmed and especially of cats as they have a scratching habit. When trimming the nails, be careful not to cut them too short and cause bleeding. Cut the nails until you see a dark circle appearing in the center of the nail.

Brushing:-Before bathing ,the pets need to be brushed out to make sure there are no knots in the furnishings. Knots are big problem in cats and dogs. Brush the beard, legs and underskirt to make sure there are no knots using the Pin Brush.

Bathing:-Cats need to be bathed not more than once a month. While bathing make sure that the temperature of the water is not too hot. Be careful not to get water and shampoo in the ears, eyes and mouth when bathing the pet.
