Sudden death in sphynx cats

My nephew found my sisters sphynx Twilight dead today.
I am thinking it may have been HCM.
She was only 1.2 years old.
I told her to tell the breeder but she believes the breeder never cared about her since she got the cat.
Twilight was the sphynx we went to So Cal to get.

So sorry for your loss

Regarless of whether she believes the breeder cares or not, I think it's the right thing to do in notifying the breeder.
Is she going to find out what may have caused the death?

I wrote Janice Wrinkles breeder and told her what happened.
She is friends with the other breeder.

There should be a Necropsy done. If I was the breeder then I would want to know even if I had to pay for it myself. If it is HCM the breeder needs to know about it and since it is genetic should be replaced.

I have read and been told that HCM is the most common cause of sudden death.

My sister took her to the vet last night and will make payments to the vet.
She is having the Necropsy done and it will take 2 weeks for the results.

The breeder needs to be told, Jacky. It is likely that if it is genetic she can expect compensation (depending on what the contract says). Please tell her before she gets the results back, just as a courtesy.

I have told Wrinkles breeder who is a friend of hers.

It really should be your sister telling the breeder, not you telling yours who then passes it on.
