It started with an email from the shelter manager I foster for saying that Lucy, my foster with kittens and 1 eye, has an approved application!
I guess the woman saw her in the newspaper and fell in love. So come September 10th, once her kittens are weaned, she already has a forever home waiting for her.

Also, tonight I have a man coming to meet Filbert. He has already stated he wants him and is coming tonight just to "finish the deal".
He said he and his wife had a tabby who looked just like Filbert who died of cancer a year and a half ago. They adopted a calico girl, but she's independant and his wife really wants a lap cat, so he wants to adopt Filbert to surprise her. Isn't that the sweetest thing?

AND on top of all this, I heard back from the woman interested in Watson, and she has the application ready and should be bringing it to the shelter in the next couple of days.

SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW! Could use tons of vibes though that everything works out and goes through ok.

Yep, Filbert's been adopted! Application already approved! He's going to stay here until the 19th as they are going away and they want to be home when he gets all setteled in his new home. He's even giving me a bottle of wine for hanging on to him.
SO HAPPY!

Awwww.
Weren't they just born the end of July ? It's AWESOME that she is being brought into a loving home
Although I suppose it would be nice to wait a little longer....you probably have no choice as a foster mom but to embrace the application with open arms when it does come along.

Six weeks at least is minimum. The kittens will still want but don't need the mother to meet their physical needs. It is not required for them to drink the mothers milk that long to survive.

On September 10th Lucy's kittens will be 8 weeks old, which is when the shelter adopts them out because that is when they are most adoptable. I would prefer to keep them longer, however, if it comes down to them getting homes, I'd prefer that over the alternative.

Oh, yeah. 8-9 weeks is standard. I didn't realize the 5-day old pics you posted on the 29th were actually closer to 3 weeks.

Oh no!! I just looked at the calander, you're right, I was off by a week.
September 17th they will be 8 weeks, so that's when Lucy can be adopted.

And yes, the meeting with Filbert went SO GREAT!
