A+H Natural strange reaction

Thought my cats would be ok with this litter but I was off in that thinking. They seem to LOVE it. Had only filled one box with the one bag and left other boxes with fresh step or scoop away. They are using this box almost exclusively to the others?!? So I guess switch over another box or two and make sure this isn't a -just this week trend- for them. Glad as seems to be better for my asthma.
Anyone been using this litter know odor control longer term?

It's been a while since I used any clay litter, I used that one a short while when the kittens were separate. It did ok, but then kittens poop a lot so even the tidy cat multis preformed poorly.

I can tell you why your cats like it better. Fresh step and especially scoop away are heavily scented litters. Cats really don't like all of those perfumes. It's not good for their lungs and certainly not yours. DH (who also has asthma) couldn't handle the scoop away - if it got stirred up too much he'd have an attack.

While the odor control isn't perfect (no perfumes) I always suggest natural litter alternatives because they're better for everyone's lungs.

Hey if they like it they have own room where litter is away from rest of house(well theres a litter box on first and 2 upstairs) the rest of boxes are in garage.
I have used natural litters in past so thinking its mixture of they like this ones scent-compared to swheat scoop/wbcl/feline pine scoop. Every so often I play around with a box of something on sale/markdown/coupon
You know is t only sold in the 10.5 bags and no bigger? couldnt find infor on thier sit but sent out email few minutes ago to them. I know they love to bury in it...Have deep litter boxes so no much of issue there!

while i prefer the clay-based litters for their clumping ability, i always buy unscented when i can. i am sensitive to many fragrances, & really don't like any of the scented litters... now, if there was a vanilla-scented one...

Wal-Mart does have an orange-scented one.....much better than most fragrances, IMO. I agree, though---vanilla would be nice.

I thought A&H Naturals WASN'T a clay litter? I thought it was corn-based or something like that. I suppose I should go look that up.

ETA: yup, it's a corn litter. Except the name is A&H Essentials, not Naturals. Ah well, at least I found it, even if I wasn't right about the name, LOL.

yeah, orange wouldn't work for me - it's one of the ones i can't tolerate.

Funny as I cant see smelling oranges when the cat pees as being a good thing to the cats.
Ok I had a vet years ago whose advice was get the CHEAPEST clay litter and add to it......carpet powder. I do often wonder about that.
Also doing a box with another alternative litter, probably carefresh bedding. Guess that's a good experiment as getting some kittens fixed in few weeks. I love the fresh step additive for the litter to use as a carpet powder(cats not allowed in the 2 rooms that have carpet left) But dollar trees no longer stocking it.

IDK, I can't see any difference from smelling flowers or whatever the other litters are supposed to smell like. The cats don't mind the scent, I did a side-by-side with an unscented litter and they used the orange-scented box more.

I think I'd like the Fresh Step lavender scented litter but it costs too much to use on a regular basis.

There is one brand of carpet powder that says it's also a litter additive. I can't remember the name though.

Do you think Carefresh is heavy enough so that the litterbox won't tip over? It feels so light. I used it with my mice for a while and found it to be dusty. Let us know what the kitties think!

Interesting maybe so much for the cats hate citrus?
Speaking of the lavender litter-a petsmart closed out and I got 6 boxes 50% off Hate to see store go but that helped. GOOD litter.

I love the fresh step lavender deodorizer but not so much the mountain fresh I think it was. This vet had foodtown brand in mind for both:S Who knows I am sure some ppl keep cats that come into contact with worse items on a daily basis.

I figured a way around the tipping over. Thought of that when I saw a little bag in store. I have a table I use to move the litter boxes on to make scooping easier and its just a good enough height to wedge an edge of the litter box under. I use the big rubbermaid totes so plenty of room

I can't wait for it to get here to try worst case I can donate a bag to shelter. I have seen quite a few ppl say it works so worth a shot. My garbage men have such a tough house here. If I could cut backa bit on bags/weight we'd all be one better for it!

Haha, yeah, same here. I feel bad for the garbage men, and sometimes I wonder if they're going to charge me extra for the weight. Even if it's a week I don't empty a litterbox, just the scoopings weigh a LOT. But my neighbor only throws out one small bag a week, so I guess we balance each other out, LOL.

Lol willowy I have 2 neighbors that are couples one are in their 50/60's and other mid 80's, both have one black bag out a week. And I have 10 or more. Husband had to do litter last night and I gave directions of get black bag and scoop into that. sigh I find him with a half torn white bag and him telling me i thought it would be lighter then THAT!
I like your idea of balancing out When we moved here it was 2 xs a week pick up and within a month they went to once a week. SO EMBARRASSING!
