Burmese Stays Outside--The Hotter, the Better

Thread Starter
We have a newly acquired Burmese living with us who insists on staying outside during the hot weather we've been having here for the past couple months. The hotter it is (101 today), the better she likes it, and the longer she stays outside (all day and all night for the past few weeks).

Is this normal behavior for Burmese?

My Siamese loves it outside in the hot weather. She'll come in for a drink frequently but I usuall put a bowl of water out by her lounge chair. Burma is pretty warm.

My Ragdoll is spending her time indoors hanging out on the tile floors.

Right now they're both inside hanging near me becasue of the scary lightning.

The heat index has been around 104.

And in the brutally cold winters we have here in Florida Mia the Siamese buries herself in a spare waterbed I have that's set on boil.

You too may have a warm weather kitty

Not really normal. But I'd be concerned if your are allowing your Burm to be roaming unsupervised or is she confined to a cat enclosure.

Too easy to "steal" the cat if allowed outside and unsupervised. With a short thin coat its not a good idea to be letting the cat stay outside - not a lot of protection against the sun.
