Issues with Dominance?

Thread Starter
I have two cats, we had our first cat Boots for about 5 months before getting our other cat M. Boots is about 2 years, M is about 1.5 years.

They get a long great, but they are having issues with dominance. For example, one will go to the bathroom, and the other one will go in right after and go on top of the other pile.

Also, they go back and forth between cleaning each other and wrestling, it looks like they're hurting each other but they never make any noises so I am assuming they're just play fighting?

Any ideas what I can do?

Hello and welcome (back) to TCS!

The wrestling is perfectly normal cat play and do nothing but watch and enjoy. Cats chase each other and tumble and posture and often make a lot of noise at it, but it is just play.

Just let them do their thing in the litter box. If one wants to pee on top of the other's pee, it doesn't really matter. You should have three boxes for two cats, and keep the boxes very clean, scooping as often as you can. At least once a day, but if I am home to do it, I scoop as soon as a box is used.

They are acting like completely normal well adjusted happy cats. I look forward to hearing more about M and Boots.
