Those of you who live in North Texas know how the temperatures have been heating up the last few days. Well, seems my cats ADORE it.

Yesterday morning after breakfast, all 3 headed outside (cat proof fence) and began "prowling." I was busy inside most of the day and around 4 I looked up at the clock and realized they hadn't come in to beg for dinner, and they are usually trying to chew my limbs off by 2:30. I went downstairs and fed the dogs and called in the cats. No one showed, except Brillo, who was sitting on the back porch. I carried her in and showed her the bowl and she walked back outside without even sniffing it. I got a little worried and found both boys and they just glared at me when I suggested they come inside to eat.

At 6, I was really getting a little concerned. I took their bowls outside and the two boys ate, but Brillo just lapped the juice off the raw food and went back to lounging. At 9. Brillo finally came in and ate some kibble and eventually settled down and slept in the big bed as usual. The boys camped outside in the yard.

This morning, my hub said everyone ate, but then the cats darted back outside immediately. It will be interesting to see what happens this evening. Strange that they pick the hottest part of the summer to do their "hanging out."

Kitties---always keep you guessing!

Kitties are SO silly.

I had to laugh about your feeding schedule... Holland eats wet food morning and night, and a quarter cup of dry to "snack" on during the day. Well, I have begun to give her her "dinner" around 9:00, because she wakes me up SO early for her breakfast!!! I was babysitting my niece last night and didn't get home to feed Holland under after midnight, and she actually let me sleep until 7:30 this morning (normally it's more like 4:00 in the morning...).

Today so far the boys have stayed outside all day but Brillo has been in since late morning. She seems exhausted, just took a nap with me!

As for my feeding schedule, we have to get up so early around 5:30 each morning for my daughter to go to swim practice, so of course they want to eat then. I find that feeding them again between 3 and 4, and then giving them a small bite or two from our dinner plates (I know) keeps them quite satisfied.

It's after 3 and no one is begging.... It's strange as we've been here for 15 years and have had cats the whole time and this has NEVER happened.

Wonder if it's just too hot for them to be overly hungry like normal?? It's been so dreadfully hot lately!

My cats have us on a feeding schedule too!!
My husband wakes up at 415am for work, and he has to feed the cats right away, or they would freak out!! They RUN into the kitchen meowing until he feeds them.
We give them some dry food during the day as a snack. If we even so much as MENTION the word "treat" they RUN into the kitchen thinking we are feeding them.
At 7ish pm, they congregate in the kitchen until we feed them.
If it is a weekend, or we happen to be out at "feeding time" they let us know as soon as we wake up/return. In the mornings if we oversleep or on weekends when we sleep in, they come to our room meowing until we feed them.

It looks like we all have pretty much the same schedule...I get up at 3 am and they get fed before I have my coffee. Then again at 11 am.

Then at 5 pm before we eat our dinner so we can eat in peace.

But that's the way it is with feeding wet. I will gladly loose sleep rather than take the convenience of feeding dry and have problems down the road.

could they have found mice or any other small rodent or bird to satisfy them?
