I've had a Nordic Track treadmill now for the past six or so years and have had no trouble with it at all. I do about 3 miles a day on the treadmill, when I can't get outside to walk, so it's not been used every day.

About 3 weeks ago, I had knee surgery. My doctor recommends using an elliptical over a treadmill, largely b/c of knee/joint issues. I talked to my physical therapy trainer and he said the same thing. I've been wanting an elliptical for about 3 years, but am not sure what exactly to get.

That being said, I started looking at the Sole e35 and am leaning toward buying that to put in the bedroom. We can put the treadmill in the basement next to the Bowflex and it will work well for DH there. I still use the Bowflex, but need something for cardio, too.

Link to the Sole e35: http://www.soletreadmills.com/detail...FRKdnAod9i6-nQ . I don't want or need the most expensive machine on the market, but I have heard good things about Sole and people who have reviewed them seem to like them, or at least have had minimal concerns.

Does anybody here know anything about ellipticals? About treadmills? About comparing the two? Does anybody have any advice to give me?

Thanks for your input.

Sorry, I don't. The only one I ever owned was just a manual. But your thread reminded me of how Max would get on the treadmill and walk when I did. It was too funny. We had a video of him doing that. So watch out for the kitties. They may join you.

I don't know anything about the different brands, but I have and do use both. Now I find an elliptical provides a better workout all the way around but I have also heard a lot of trainers say a treadmill is better because with an elliptical, the movement isn't natural.

I've owned a treadmill for the past several years. Its made by True. It was very expensive when I bought it hence using it basically in the late fall/winter/early spring.
I've used an elliptical when I belonged to gyms and liked them but I guess I;m sticking with the treadmill.

I LOVE the elliptical and miss having the use of one terribly.

My women's only gym closed so I had to join Curves and they don't have an elliptical, just a kind of stepper. I use the stepper a ton, but it still doesn't give me the benefits the elliptical did.

I did research buying one, but the biggest complaint that I read on just about every machine within a reasonable price range was that the stride was too short in the home use machines.

Not that I have room for anything like that anyway.

Oh how I miss working out on an elliptical! Go Figure had other machines that Curves doesn't have too. Sigh.

Thanks, Otto. I have physical therapy this morning and am going to have another chat with my trainer about ellipticals. We don't mind spending the money on an elliptical because I would use it....I've been wanting one now for a few years. I would think that you would get more of a workout than from a treadmill.

Boy, they are big, though! I really want to put it in the bedroom (and there is room), but it would certainly be the focal point of the room! Will let you know what my trainer says today.
