The movie comes out today and already I have been getting many people asking if they can buy a sphynx.
Wrinkles breeder has had to turn so many people away because they want a sphynx just because of this movie.
I am getting ask if they bite.
People think sphynx are easy to care for when they are alot of work.
I explained that to many people at the shows.
We fear many sphynx will end up in the pound just like the chihuahuas did after that move.
Many BYB will sell a sphynx to anyone.
Here is what someone said about the sphynx in the movie.

Kitty is a bare naked freak of a cat, previously a pampered Persian who was stripped of her fur after being hurled into a vat of hair remover. She nurses a grudge against every person and animal that ever crossed her and has hatched a plan involving robotics, space satellites, high tech underground mazes and a flock of animal slaves to have her vengeance.

Any time you have a "breed" (cat or dog) in a movie you have a rush to buy one cause of it. 100 Dalmations, Marley, etc.

But don't feel too bad - the Labrador has been in the #1 spot in AKC for almost 20 yrs (or close to it now). Guess what is the #1 dog sitting in shelters?

Just keep informing the public best you can. I'm just hoping the Ocicat never gets that "status".....

They should make a movie "100 Million Sheep" (brainless people who follow the latest trends)

We had many labs when I was a kid.
They are very friendly dogs.
People are just stupid and want what ever breed it is just because of a movie.
I always tell people sphynx are not easy to care for.

Now you've got me curious. for sphynx and high-maintenance, what are the top 3 facts? your sphynx is cute and there was one on reality tv ("Grandma Wrinkles" of RHoNJ) who was very cute too

Its such a pain that people just want one because of a movie and don't look into anything to do with looking after the animal, my mil is a bit like that and it annoys me, I remember when Finding Nemo came out, everyone went crazy for Clown fish and theres no way I could ever look after a marine tank.Such a shame for the poor animals. x

Because they have no fur, every bit of oil and dust, etc gets on their skin, so they need to be bathed a few times a week (just like we do). And every little scratch will show up on the skin too so you need to keep nails short and be sure they never get fleas so they don't scratch themselves.

They get oil on everything.
You should see where they sit.
They need a bath once a week or every 2 weeks.
You have to clean their ears and nails all the time because they get oily.
They get dirty fast because thye have no fur.
Every scratch or cut shows.
My white sphynx gets dirty between rings when I show him.
They are expensive and rare but there are many bad breeders that will sell them cheaper just to make money.

I'd love to own one of the Geico lizards......especially if he also talked with that accent. BTW is the Geico lizard British or Aussie? I say Aussie.

Love the word "sheeple" by the way!

And I believe the Geiko lizard is British, bit of a Cockney twang. At least he'd be able to tell of his humans if they didn't look after him properly.
