Conditioning a female

Once a cat has weaned her kittens, how long should I wait to enter her in a show? I was told that judges don't mind if nipples are still extended, but they will not like it if they feel milk.

The kittens are 7.5 weeks old now, and eating solid food but still nursing as well.

There is one show August 22 (kittens would be 11 weeks old), and another September 11th (kittens would be 14 weeks old). The next shows are in October, and I will be showing smoke boy as he'll be over 4 months old then.

IMO I'd wait till the September show and be sure she is NOT nursing any of the kittens. This way her milk supply will have dried up too.

Yeah, at 14 weeks I'll only have the one kitten still at home and I can separate them for a few weeks prior to make sure he's not nursing for comfort. I don't think he would, since he was the first to try solid food and he's becoming more independent by the day.

I showed mine at 13 weeks, the judge asked her if she'd had babies as her nipples were felt but she didn't have any milk, though the kitten I've kept still suckles on her multiple times a day.

I know some who have shown a few weeks earlier than that.

Of course it also depends on the condition of your girl, Millie looked fantastic the entire time she nursed whereas some girls can loose a bit of condition....but I know your aware of that

Yes, Skylark always looks like a bedraggled mom but DD still looks like a model

Sky also loves having babies more than DD, she's happiest when she has a litter.
