I posted alittle back about my cat Kami being sick and well now I just got back from the vet and my kitty Kami has a tumor in her mouth under her tongue.

Right now they are doing bloodwork to see if anything else is wrong with her. They said if the bloodwork comes up with more problems then there really isn't worth it and not much they can do.

But if it comes back ok then they want to get xrays and then perhaps surgery to remove it but that also means removing part of her jaw.

I am at a loss here. She is 13 years old I am just worried and confused and unsure. Has anyone delt with this before? How did it go? What can I expect?

Was a new vet for us since we just moved but she was very nice. Even when Kami was very rude and growling, hissign and trying to smack her lol I wihed I would have asked more questions but I think I was just alittle too emotional right then hearing the news. I will have to wait until we hear back about the bloodwork which is probably best anyways since then we will know where to go from here.

The vet also gave me Clindamycin Hydrochoride drops to give her and she is supposed to eat wet food for now.

This is so scary

Awww hun, I'm so sorry.
I can't offer any advice really but I CAN offer support. Sending vibes to you and your baby that there is nothing more serious going on.

Much support from me too. I always forget to ask the things I should when I am faced with something like this.

Please keep us posted as to the test results. that it is localized and can be removed.

Thanks so much

I just heard back from the vet that her blood work all came back good. So the next step would be xrays. I found this article on her tumor too:

We just moved last month and I am not working right now. So money is very tight. I haven't talked to the vet yet on price but looking online we could possibly afford it but might not be able to depending on how bad it is and the vet.

I am at a loss right now. I feel like I am in such a bad position and unsure of what to do. My family is all saying it might be best just to have her put to sleep. That it will be best for her. Part of me thinks so too. She is older and this has to be such a stressful and painful experience for her. Even if we have the surgery that is going to be such a mess for her and then all the recovery.

and then part of me feels so horribly selfish for even thinking that way. Like maybe I am just thinking of myself. I am not good with stuff like this at all. I can barely take care of myself half the time. I have medical issues and emotional stuff and seeing her go through all of that and then having to help her learn to eat again. We have three other cats too and she hates them with a passion and they annoy her.

I have had her since she was born. Her mom was a pregnant stray we took in. So all 13 years of her life she has been with me. She is my spoiled princess and I often say that she is like my kitty soulmate we are so close. I love her so much and can't imagine her not in my life but it has also been killing me to see her in such pain and how horrible she looks right now and how fragile she seems.

at the same time since we have switched her food to wet canned and feeding her more of it she has been looking and acting a bit better. and that gives me hope.

My husband on the other hand is handling this all worse then me. He had never had a pet before. and when we first moved in together Kami hated him (she mostly hates all people lol) and he was alittle put off on how spoiled she was and how I would walk on eggshells to keep her happy lol Him not having much experience with cats either he would try to pet her wrong or pick her up and royally piss her off too lol

But somehow about a year later they learned to get along and now she is like a daddys girl. He spoils her worse then I do lol

I can barely get him to discuss our options here.

I am such a mess right now. I don't know what to do. Sorry for my long post I just needed to get it all out.

Well, it seems like she's still fighting for life. If your hubby is working, you could try applying for Care Credit to pay for the surgery. It will let you make monthly payments.

It sounds quite a bit like she could recover fully from this after surgery. I don't think she should be pts when she has such a good chance for recovery. This type of tumor has a low malignancy factor, and rarely spreads, so it seems like just removing the tumor is the thing to do.

The article you linked to says that the vet is going to see her over the worst part of it, and then when she comes home you'll just need to give her soft or canned foods.

I think this is something you can really handle. We're all here supporting you, and sending for your baby to get better. Be strong, love.
