So there's a fly loose in the apt. and Neko is on the hunt! How long will this go on? Can she actually catch it? Its been going on for 30min+ Its quiet... she's laying on the ground looking around her... Then ZOOM she jumps across the couch...ZOOM across the kitchen... The biggest leaps...yet the fly is still on the loose

Flies don't last around here too long either when Lil' Jag is on the job. They even get her to chatter before she eats them.

Well Neko must be novice in fly catching. The chase continues... I will say its quite cute seeing her jump like a bunny rabbit trying to capture it

Flies are fair game in my house. Oh, and by fair game, I mean fun game (for the kitties, not me)
.

I'm not someone who does well with insects. I hate bugs. I don't want them in my house or even remotely near to me. And, most importantly, I do not want them to be touching me. Ever! But, thankfully, I have cats and dogs who understand and love me. Thus, they go after anything that doesn't belong in the house. And, their favorite? Flies! And, that is fine by me...

The bugs in this house don't last long. My cats are really good at catching flies and moths. And, if the kitties miss something, the dogs are just as good at stalking and hunting. So, I'm well covered in that area. Hopefully Neko is as efficient an insect killer so you (and she!) can get some rest tonight.

I hate flies and they love me. I have a relatively big house, but trust me - flies will come wherever I am and buzz around me, land on my wine glass until I have to take action. Molly (my long time resident cat) could care less. Little One (recently rescued stray) used to be a predator outdoors but so far, haven't seen any evidence that the flies are in danger.

flies dont last to long once Flash realises they are there sometimes she gets them herself or sometimes if she wants to make the game last longer she calls for Sooty coz Sooty is big and stupid and lacks in the hunting department he chases the fly round then Flash just gets it

its just so funny watching them chatter away to a fly

If anything gets in, I have four hunters ready to take care of them.

Have you read "Homer's Odyssey," about the little blind black cat, and his skills at fly hunting?

Flies or any bug really don't last long around here either!

Lucy, my one eyed foster, is INSANE at fly killing! It's too funny to watch her, love it.

Lots of excellent fly hunters at TCS! Neko could use some lessons; as of last night she had not caught it. I finally decided to go to bed and Neko joined me
Owell...

My cats are great at chasing and cornering any fly that gets in, but I try to make the kill myself. Ninja is the expert flying bug predator among my gang -- I've seen her swat them in mid-flight right to the ground.

A related story -- I once tried to squish a spider on my ceiling, but only managed to knock it down. I gave up looking for the brown spider on a brown carpet. Ten minutes later, my Basia (who had been crouched in her classic meditative pose nearby) jumped up and went into full stalking mode at a spot on the carpet. She smacked once with her paw, and waited. Dubya came alongside her, and they took turns smacking at the carpet. So I got out a flashlight, and sure enough here's this poor little arachnid curled up in a ball. After a few seconds it would bring its legs out and start scampering away, only to be smacked down by one of the cats again.

I dispensed the poor critter and complimented Basia and Dubya on a successful defense of the homestead.

Neko is good with non-flying buggies too! She'll even put them in the oddest places when she's done. Just the other day i found a spider in the water bottle cardboard case they come in and a little beetle next to her food dish. When she was around 5mos i found a bug in her litter box!! She had pawed all the litter away from one of the corners and placed her bug there

Mine make a lot of noise about it, but don't seem interested in the final pursuit.
