Cats in Love

A few lucky pictures from years ago. Dubya the orange/white male and Jewel the solid white girl became buddies, and possibly more! Here they are enjoying a piece of cat furniture together:





For a moment they were distracted by something going on outside our patio window. This has been one of our favorite pictures ever since:

Thank you, everyone! Dubya and Jewel have been cuddle buddies ever since Jewel joined us in 2004. She has to share him with Tiger though, as Tiger will actually follow Dubya around looking for a good grooming.

Dubya has always been especially friendly with and protective of both Jewel and Tiger, two females we adopted within a couple of months of each other. A cute story about Dubya and Tiger -- we all moved to a new home nearly a year ago. Tiger is very sensitive and easily traumatized, especially by cat carriers, car trips and changes of scenery. When we released the cats into a dedicated room at the new house, Tiger immediately retreated to a corner underneath a cat tree. Dubya took up a guarding position right next to her and never left her side, even as she started to explore the new premises. These days, Tiger is more outgoing than ever, thanks in part to Dubya always looking out for her.
